But seriously, first I didn't even like the idea of this ship, before I did a bit reserch.

First I saw Alexei only as a killer, since he killed Nikolai with this corpse technology.
He turned a living person into a living corpse to prove Watson that what it takes to create these "better corpses".
It made me hate him with all of my heart cause Nikolai is ny fav charactef.
But then I found out that they both were most likely be killed because they left this one army thing without permission.
At the manga (manga explains things much more better) Alexei and Nikolai were really close to each other, so it didn't make sense to me that Alexei would just go and kill Nikolai "for fun".
What most of the people say is, that they took their lives (yes Alexei dies by the same way as Nikolai died) before they are found and so Watson would be the only one who knows where the notes of Victor are.
