A bit of personal artwork done inspired by a recent trip to visit my good friends foxfeather and Mbala in Minnesota. Chasing emus in feels like -60F (Literally colder than Antarctica!) temperatures was just one of the fun adventures we got up to (I also learned I am hopeless at skiing and dang it is cold in Minnesota!). Among the other reasons for going was to set out a gameplan for a Kickstarter campaign for our the SECOND Volume of our Travel Field journal (The first was Dry Season Only!) .

I drew a slew on the visit including pin concepts for the Kickstarter and...well a lot more. Among these inspired scribblings was a thumbnail for this piece. It is rarer for me to see a color palette in my head clearly but sometimes a piece just screams it. Im glad I had time to do this illustration while the campaign is live. Im so curious to see how my ideas of the wondrous places we may see will change once I actually live those moments. I felt it an important personal marker to paint something from myself before the trip for just this reason.
