I respect the soldiers, but not the military.Β And if the Republican Party actually gave two shits about the soldiers themselves (as opposed to just the weapons industry and the oil industry), then they wouldn't be allowing veterans to starve on the streets because "Muh socialism is bad."

If you truly believe this, I feel so sorry for you. As an active duty member I cannot speak for us all, but I hope one day you will let all your hate go and see reason. God bless you.

You actually believe that pacifism is a hateful ideology? They really programmed you at boot camp, didn't they? Also, I love the passive-aggressive use of "God bless you." at the end.

I'm sorry for you too,but that's the harsh truth. I hope you're treated well,now that (I presume) you're a veteran.

Not yet. I still have a few years (although many people consider a "veteran" to be someone who has served overseas so you could be a "veteran" while actively serving). I realize from your background that you would have a very interesting perspective on the U.S. Military involvement overseas, especially compared to mine as an American. I can say from my American and military experience though, I have not seen too much oil. Mostly just hidden bombs and beaten (physically and emotionally) women. Also, a great deal of anger and hatred in the children. It's something you never really get used to.

I never was in the military and I never will (unless if my country is at war, then I'll volunteer),but what can you expect from the survived innocent? They WILL hate you because some parts of your army/air force has killed their parents or part of them,as seen in Iraq in 1991/2003 or in Serbia in 1999. Either way,I hope that you survive and live with your carrier.

Yes. I used to have a great deal of difficulty living with what I do for the military AND trying to be a good Christian. I have come to terms with that years ago and I can sleep better now. Thank you for your kind words and not lashing out raw emotions.
I also realize that my wording was not very clear in my last comment about the atrocities that I've witnessed (first and second hand) "over there" to three different Middle Eastern countries. The battered women and hate filled children were relieved whenever we rolled through in hundreds of tons of steel and force. They felt safe in our shadow from these ... groups of people (usually men) committing terrible crimes against them. Pulling out with no infrastructure to protect the innocents we left behind. That still haunts me a little, but I have come to live with it. I feel... I know all those women and children have either been killed or converted.
There is NO excuse (war, religion, politics, power) for what these radicalizedΒ militant groups are doing to their own people!
God bless you in your life, your family, and all that you attempt in your life! I sincerely hope that.

I don't agree with everything the government has done WITH the military over the years, but individually speaking I really do appreciate those who have served, largely because of the hell they have to endure which would break lesser men.

I agree with you about ww2, i love the fact that someone would to as far as give their live for what they believe in, its beauty you don't see much.
If i could i would go back in time and fight in it, either for Germany or Italy.

Yeah it's sad that people forget that it was a fight that people believed in. While I don't agree with everything that the Nazi's did there were people who were fighting to make the world a better place. Just like how the Allies soldiers were fighting for what they believe was going to make the world a better place.
I'm just curious by the way, but why would you fight for Germany or Italy? Is it because of your heritage? Or is it something else? I would love to read your response.

-I'm a revisionist and i don't believe in the holocaust.
-Even if ALL the crimes the axis supposely did was true, allies crimes are still worse.
-WW2 was a war against the satanists bankers who rule the world today because the good ones lost.
-I like nazism and fascism ideology.
-Democracy simply don't work, all it do is force a hidden dictatorship that will be evil by desing and turn the people into stupid sheeps. the only thing that can work in our world is an honest dictatorship with an uncorupted leader, only democratic process that work are revolutions (something the false democracy of today prevent since the people somehow believe that talking can overthrow corruption).
-Many of today's problems simply would not exist if the axis has won the war.
-Nazi germany was in itself the best modern nation you could live in and if they were not defeated the world would be far more advanced in every way. Life quality would be far greater for everyone.
-Whenever i look at something Hitler did, all i can say is that he was a great man. He literally saved Germany, too bad assholes destroyed everything he has built.
-If i went on to fight in this war, i probably woudn't change much, but at least i would die with the only people in history wich i am certain were actually good guys. If i wanted to be a soldier today, it would not be possible.

Interesting. While I don't know ALL of the crimes the Axis did, I still hold my own belief that their ideology was evil. Now I do agree that if Nazi Germany was still around today that technology would be more advance. Cause even though the higher ups in the Nazi Ladder were mostly Corrupt (I.E Hitler and his small band of loyalist) they were hungry for knowledge. In fact most, if not all, of our medical advances today, are a result from the experiments that the Nazi's did.
While it's hard to really tell if the world would still have the same problems today, even if Nazi Germany was still around, it's also hard to really tell what differences would be apply today.
I'm just curious but what crimes did the Allies commit? I am unaware of any crimes that the United States and England have committed. Unless you are talking about Russia, then that's a different story.

I would only respect the military if they are actually defending their own country from attackers.
But too often have they interfered with world events, and caused the needless deaths of civilians and soldiers alike. Too often have the US and UK military become the attackers they sought to repel.

And just when I was starting to like you.
The military is a country's means to repel enemies or to take the fight to the enemy. But you forget one thing, the soldier has zero say in where they go,whom they fight,or why they fight.
First rule of war: There will always be casualties.

The thing is, if it's in self defence, I'm fine with that. If we're invading others, then I'm opposed to that.
I know there will be casualties, I agree that it's inevitable, but soldiers really should keep civilian deaths to a minimum where possible.

Scavenger1234567890 In reply to MadKingFroggy [2016-12-12 15:36:30 +0000 UTC]
Sometimes evil has to be put down and you have to invade to do it. Like Germany in WW2. Most soldiers will do what they can to limit casualties, but when you have civilians that are working with the enemy to undermine things, they have essentially become the enemy.
A soldier has no choice where they are sent. Nor do they have the choice if they must kill. Soldiers exist so a people are safe. They kill so we may live. And they are the ones that pay a high price. It eats away at their souls,it buries itself in their minds and causes them to have issues. The politicians are the evil ones, deciding where men and women go in their name.

I think that soldiers shouldn't have blind unquestioning obedience. If someone tells them to kill innocents, they at the very least shouldn't be punished for refusing to do so.
It's better to spare lives than end them. But as I said in the other comment, I guess we'll have to disagree.
I can understand your opinions and do respect them, but I simply cannot in good conscience agree with them.

Well, Vietnam was traumatizing for everyone. It is a common he me across our sad, pathetic excuse for human history that when soldiers of an army are told to commit horrible acts to their enemies, those who DIDN'T partake in these acts are grouped together with those soldiers and are dubbed various names, such as "Baby Killer." Now, I seriously doubt (or at least, I seriously HOPE) that your uncle was actually one of the soldiers who had to do that, so he has my deepest sympathies for being brave enough to fight for this country, and still love it enough to let it call him every name in the book. God bless the American military.
