Description One of the most wide spread large mammals on the supercontinent, the Common Horse Ape (Pithechippus vulgaris) is a schizotheriine chalicothere native to a belt of open woodland forest and in between the Chyrse and the Noachis and Cimmerian Deserts. They are one of the largest herbivores in their habitats, feeding on vegetation and are considered a keystone species in their habitats along with the Common Elephant which can also reside in the forests but are noticeably more rare than the horse ape. They push down small to midsized trees to access the leaves, branches, fruits, and roots available to them as well as to open grazing land for other herbivores and for themselves since they also graze on grasses. They are also a common mount for Aquanian riders, in fact, Common Horse Apes have been domesticated by Aquanians as riding companions and beasts of burden. They are known to be loyal just like horses but have a reputation of being more aggressive.
