Finalized designs for the four main characters, also serves as a handy height comparison. (I drew another one but Garrow was too tall for the page.)

So, I guess here i'll tell you a bit about these characters.

"Shamshir"
For some reason, he's living a video game. Normally he's a pretty chill guy, and ambivalent to most people, but he doesn't take any bullshit. Energetic, snarky, and stupid people annoy him. He likes animals, though. Instead of acting like the Gung-Ho Gotta Save The World Main Character, he couldn't really care less about this whole adventure. He just wants to get his memories back and end this crazy dream.
That's right, he's an amnesiac. He hates how cliched it is, along with the rest of this generic JRPG world. Shamshir is the name given to him by Tolie, who suggested he take the name of the sword he carries until he remembers his own. He thought that was dumb too, but he didn't really have a choice.

"Tolie Juno"
Tolie (pronounced TOH-lee) was the one who helped Shamshir recover after being found in the forest unconscious. Being the kind-hearted lad that he is, he vowed to help Shamshir recover his memories at any cost. He is innocent, strong-willed, and charismatic, and "never say never" is his motto. He tends to get carried away, and the ideas he has are somewhat out there. He's also pretty gullible.
Tolie acts as the tutorial character for the first part of the story, explaining controls and game mechanics (though Shamshir can't understand why they need them in the first place). It turns out that he is the child of an Angel, and thus he has some basic healing powers. His mother always told him that he could become a full fledged angel, that is, before she died. Despite this baww-inducing backstory, he stays positive. He is also a slut for treasure.

"Zaniah Ragnar Dämmerung"
It's hard to believe that this guy is not a villain. His poker face is on 24/7, he enjoys the suffering of humanity, and his favorite pastime is manipulating people he believes to be lesser than him. Despite his feminine appearance (which he plays up, he dresses like that to make people feel uncomfortable), he is actually a very powerful mage. He could probably find a way to remove your intestines without you noticing.
He roams the land with Garrow (whom he "affectionately" calls his "partner") searching for his mentor to lift a spell from him, though if he had it his way, he'd go it alone. You see, his mentor in the Order of Svartalfheim hated his guts, but he was forced to mentor him due to weird law codes. As a way to prevent him from wreaking havoc on the world, he used Garrow's body as a vessel to seal Zaniah's magic away (saving his life in the process). He can still use magic, but the further away he gets from Garrow, the weaker it gets. And if Garrow dies, it vanishes altogether, which explains why he hasn't killed him yet. He makes the best of the situation by taunting Garrow constantly with games of gay chicken. Nobody knows if he's actually gay or just faking it, though, as he's never shown true affection for any living creature.

"Garrow Maxwell"
Garrow is the quintissential manly-man. He is strong, brave, a hero to all, and a little on the stupid side. He's always willing to help out when someone needs it, and as such, others tend to take advantage of him. While he enjoys such activities as fighting, lifting heavy things, fixing things, and wrestling bears, he does have a softer side. He likes gardening and he's actually a pretty good cook. He's very competitive, and any challenge awakens his burning spirit. Despite being so manly, he is easily shaken by Zaniah's taunts. He likes pretty girls, and he constantly affirms such.
Garrow lived in a quiet mountain village all his life, until some sort of disaster happened and Zaniah's mentor saved his life. Through some strange sense of justice, Garrow has vowed to stick by Zaniah as thanks. He's completely missing the point of the act. He weilds a gigantic hammer, which may or may not be made of silver. Her name is Lucinda. He has lots of scars (due to him wearing very little armor), and he enjoys recounting the stories of every one.

Why do I have so much more for Zaniah and Garrow aaaa

Oh well. Expect more updates on this. I'm working on the actual comic. There are a few more characters who will appear as well.
