Description
Katara and her brother Sokka were on there way to school. Sokka was a junior and Katara was a sophomore. They often walked to school with a couple of there friends. Suki, Toph and Aang. They all walked together to school talking about what the day or week brought.
“So there going to have a dance soon…in two weeks…I’m so excited…we should go shopping!” Suki said looking at Katara, “Sure…Toph you want to go shopping?” she asked
Toph just looked back at Katara “Sure…I guess.” She said completely unenthused. They all go to school. Sokka and Suki separated from the rest of the group as they had the same 1st period class together.
“So Sokka, do you want to…go to the dance with me?” she asked looking in her locker.
“…Yes.” he said with a smile and they walked to class together. “Who else would I go with?”

“So who do you want to go to the dance with?” Toph asked Katara while waiting at her locker.
“I don’t know…it’s like he doesn’t want to or there is someone else its kinda weird.” She said looking in the locker at something she didn’t really need for the next couple of classes. Katara had a very complicated past with boys. One boy, Jet she thought she liked him but he was just one of those fast talkers that just wanted to get her into bed.
The other Zuko just seemed to like to flirt with her and make her mad all the time. She wasn’t really sure what he was to her. They were spending sometime together and they had kissed only a couple times, it wasn’t anything major, just a kiss or two. But he was ‘with someone’ else now, that quite gray looking girl Mai. She didn’t do anything but go to school and hang out with him and his sister. Katara really didn’t care much for her, as far as Katara knew him and Mai were together. In all reality Katara hated seeing Mai and Zuko together, even if they were ‘just friends’ she over heard him say to another friend it still made her mad seeing them together.
“I don’t know do you think I should ask him or…what?” Katara said to Toph.
Toph shrugged her shoulders, “It’s really up to you.” She said “Besides I already have a date.” She said with a small smile on her face.
The week passed and she had only said a couple words to Zuko. Both Katara and Zuko were online and chatting with one another.

Katara: Did ya hear about that dance…?
Zuko: Ya…what about it…?
Katara: Nothing…sounds like fun tho…
Zuko: I’m not one for dancing…
Katara: Oh…
All her hopes were crushed at once, and she felt that pain of rejection hit her. She was going to log off without saying anything but she looked at the chat box, and saw that Zuko was writing a message. Katara waited for it to pop on to the screen.
Zuko: …are you going…? ‘cuz I might be there…only if ur going to be there
Katara: I might…my friends are going…
Zuko: Cool…I might see ya then…
Katara: Are you going to wear something nice?
Zuko: Maybe I haven’t really put that much thought in to it yet…ttyl

The night of the dance was here and Katara was so nervous, Zuko hadn’t really said anything to her in a while, and she was worried that he wouldn’t be there or that he wouldn’t dance with her or something like that. She was getting ready she was going to wear a dark pair of blue jeans, with sparkles on them and a blue halter top also had sparkles on it. She pulled her hair into a high pony tail and put on some make up. Sokka came out of his room wearing a nice pair of jeans and a t-shirt with a button up shirt that was unbuttoned with a shirt to match under it and a nice pair of shoes. Katara carried her black strappy high healed shoes to the bottom of the stairs and slipped them on. Waiting on the front porch of there house was Toph, Aang and Suki. They all piled into the car and were off to the school.
Sokka and Suki headed in together, and so did Aang and Toph both of the couples hand in hand, went in the dark gym with everyone else. The music was loud with a good beat to dance too. Everyone looked like they were having a good time. Katara stood by the door of the gym as if she couldn’t go in without someone.
“Waiting for someone?” A voice asked behind her
Katara looked over and saw the handsome face of Zuko, and smiled. “Maybe…are you?” she asked back
“Yeah but I haven’t seen her yet…she’s probably all dolled up…and looks amazing” he said
Katara nodded her head and smiled.
“Thanks you look good you’re self.” She said back
“wanna go dance?” he asked.
“Yah.” She said with a smile and left her small purse and shoes in the corner with every other girls.
A crossed the gym the gray girl watched as the guy she liked danced with another girl. She didn’t like it at all, but what could she do? Mai walked over to where Zuko and Katara were dancing. “What do you think you are doing?” she yelled pushing Zuko away from Katara.
“Dancing…it’s a dance it is what you do.” He said
“Not here…with her?” Mai pointed a long finger at Katara who was looking rather steamed at the moment.
“I am here with him, if you don’t mind we are dancing” Katara walking back to take her place with Zuko, Mai wasn’t going to take that so she pushed Katara out of the way, making her fall on to the gym floor.
“Mai!? What are you doing!?” Zuko asked helping Katara back up “You know we aren’t together anymore! Why do you insist on being with me every were I go?” he yelled back.

Everyone in the crowd stopped dancing and looked around at Zuko, Mai, and Katara.
“You’re not going out with each other?” Katara asked him as quiet as she could
“not anymore.” He said quietly to Katara
The teachers were brought in and Mai was escorted out by the principal and the dance resumed as if nothing had had happened.
“Sorry, she can be a real pain” He said rubbing the back of his neck
“It’s okay…” Katara said, she went to say something else but Zuko spoke first
“She is so jealous of anyone who wants to just hang out with me”
“I was so jealous of her…spending all the time with you…” Katara said back
Katara and Zuko spent the rest of the dance hanging out and having fun. She caught a ride home with him instead of with Sokka and the gang.
