oh,that's a good observation (although, among my non-human characters - just look this dragon was even more seriously overweight [link] ) you could be a great detective Fer a detective in the world of pictures
btw recently a friend kept recommending me a book by Jasper Fforde "The Eyre Affair" that she sais is a postmodernistically funny para-detective plot about a detective in the world of literary plots named Thursday Next. I think i may give the book a try,'cause it sounds pretty interesting, don't you think?

anyway, the lady looks charming with her overweigh uhmm the other day during an art exhibit (very, very conceptual-abstract-strange works) i said ey look! some tree branches at night... and then we saw that paintΒ΄s name.. "from the window!!" jajaj and i said it would be nice to be an art critic (maybe detective also, maybe!!) inventing what those "only.a.blue.line.on.white.background" works mean...hahahah (though i must say these were an exception, i liked them pretty much)

i havent heard about that book. i donΒ΄t like detective stories but this one seems a very particular one, maybe it could help me in my future art job

I, too, have the older woman as my favourite part of this piece. She is just perfect, her expression, her clothes, it's so full of personality. The rest is lovely, too, of course!

I love the girl's face, quite serene ^^ And seeing her makes me want to embroider again XD

The background is so soft-looking, reminds me of velvet

There's a pie? Oh. I thought that was a cushion for her lap so she could sew without stitching her clothing to whatever she was stitching. I see the heroine has a needle- generally speaking, heroines and needles are not good news. There's a risk of a hundred year nap...

i love the blossoms of the forest. and how you did the sky. it really shows the grey daylight creeping over the hills......
the ceiling is a bit too dominant for my taste.. too dark. but on the other hand it symbolises this childhood security thing very well...
hmm did you see? the main character looks like you. and this elderly russian servant... you didn't take the tea but ohooooooo i guess you will taste this magic pie where fairytale horses are ascending from.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

barbarasobczynska In reply to nitah [2008-02-25 22:07:53 +0000 UTC]

thank you
oh, oh oh you're talking about symbolics of dark ceilings? see, now it's you who intelectually surpass me

but i must announce you, Nita lovely, you are crazy, you sweet lil' fairy of spring...'cause to you all my characters look like me!

the eldery russian servant still haunt you,eh?
oh!!!! i'll show you to make fun of me and the pie where horses are ascending from oh Nita, don't mess us with me, sweetgirl

nitah In reply to barbarasobczynska [2008-02-25 22:17:53 +0000 UTC]

yeah but i bet you never use the term "thing" in such situations.

no, really!! most of all the queen in the other picture looks like you. but this girl is her daughter.. so she looks a little like you too. and i really mean it, it's not a joke. you know that i really saw the pictures of you *cough* the barracuda.

but the horses are ascending from the pie, can't you see?
the princess is already in trance because of the mesmerising singsong of the servant... and the sweet flavour of the pie. you can see her eyes how they are staring into midair..

barbarasobczynska In reply to nitah [2008-02-25 22:31:15 +0000 UTC]

hey what pie, Nita!? i'm going to have to kill this poor Artoveli girl for bringing the idea to your crazy mind i haven't painted any PIE here it just appeared in your mind i'd suggest, maybe it's time for a late supper in Switzerland right now, huh, and that caused your pie-associations?
have you heard that song about the worst pies in London from "Sweeney Todd" [link] (you'd enjoy the movie i bet, since a lot of it is about canibalism)
speaking of my hypothethical similarity to those characters i'd prefer to be similar to barracuda fish than to them
but aside of all your crazy ideas i adore you sweetie

but the servant is holding a bread or pie in her hands, doesn't she? or what is this thing there...?

hmm i don't like musical movies... bleh! but the song itself is nice.

...and i already thought you wouldn't like me anymore!

barbarasobczynska In reply to nitah [2008-02-25 22:58:58 +0000 UTC]

those are some materials i think but do i really have to know what characters in my pictures are carrying? they're living their own lives you know, i don't want to investigate too muchly into what they're doing

oh, but "Sweeney Todd" is not really musical at all, it's in fact more a funny horror than a musical

oh, how could you?
awwwww, i simply adore you

haha, artoveli's right, it looks like steam rising from a pie - which I think is a pretty cool kind of double-effect
I love the way you did the heroine. Red hair + green = <3

charonferryman [2008-02-25 20:18:58 +0000 UTC]

Now she (the heroine) looks a little more homely. Interesting - has she changed much over the years?
Who is the woman bringing her the embroidery cushion?

I never quite noticed how well you draw textures until here. The smudged stone wall, the carpet and the clothes, the misty looking forest and the foam-clouds...a bit like an impressionist miniature
