(I have a friend who was born in Israel who's name is Yael - she's mentioned that it means gazelle...and I've always wondered: Is this a species called Yael or just a general word for them?)

As you can see a Yael look somewhat like a gazelle, but more adjusted to the mountain area. its latin name is Capra Nubiana. In hebrew, Yael.
