Wow, now I look at this I realize how much my own wolf art looks wrong... *anatomy correct frenzy!*

Don't forget, they may have multible tails for extreme balance, or possible flight, bright colors for showing off to mates, and wild hallucinations of 'demon' forms of themselves..

That definitely describes a "perfect" wolf. Or so the wolfaboos say.

Notes:
Some woofs have been shown to have retractable claws. The variety of colors that they sport suggests that, unlike other canines, woofs have the ability to see color however the specific pallet is unknown. The large furry crest on their heads is used to spread odors to communicate with other woofs. Commonly used to attract mates, the smelly pheromones produced by these crests are powerful enough to kill a bull elephant. After they have attracted a mate the pair begins to drag their ass across gravely surfaces until they are drenched in blood. They then begin to rub their asses together and howl. This is then followed by the actual mating itself which has been known to go on for days before the male dies of exhaustion.

o_e... I have since used that description in one of my own biological explanations for the sparkledog. And now that read your descrption again I see that some of it turned out rather simmilar... Not the same but the ideas of island locked inbreeding and vegitarianism made it in. But sparkledogs wern't native to the island either. They were put there to keep them away from people.

I try to draw wolves with correct anatomy, but I don't have enough experience.

lol this is really funny! XD But you got ONE thing wrong.....
"and its jaws slender and week, as there are no prey larger than small rodents and birds."
And, of coarse, as I can see, you drew the "woof" with a slender jaw, and the "real wolf" with a boxy, big, strong jaw..... Well, I'd hate to say this, but they way you drew the woofs jaw is actually MORE ACCURATE to a real wolf than the way you drew that grey wolf, there. I mean, seriously, youre just being way too generous to the real wolf by giving it powerful jaws like that! XD REAL gray wolves have very thin, narrow, slender jaws. Even though they are able to hunt large prey with these chompers, they are still VERY WEAK compared to jaws of other carnivores, such as cats and hyenas. A wolf has a jaw force of only 400 pouds of pressure per square inch. (psi). A tiger has ajaw force of over 1000 psi. a striped hyena has a jaw force of 1500 psi. Jaguar: 1800 psi. Spotted hyena: 2000 psi.
So, yeah. In ths case, the wolfaboos and woof drawers have it right! LOL XD Wolves have soem damn weak jaws-- at least compared to other large carnivores.

That's...that's actually pretty cool! A wetland-dwelling cat-fox thing would be great in a sci-fi setting! Maybe with some more tweaking to be even more unrealistic and...I must get my drawing tools.

Despite its obvious specialization to a diet of small animals, several specimens seem to retain an atavistic urge to attack far larger animals to a point one could call demented. Cases are known of common woofs attacking even more powerful predators such as tigers and bears as if they were prey, only to be swiftly dispatched. To conserve the species, it is highly recommended to limit contact with larger predators as much as possible, before the species does itself an irreperable blow by committing mass suicide this way

Ah yes, another bizarre feature of the woof. For some unknown reason its brain has atrophied to around a quarter of the size that would be expected of any other similarly sized mammal. Unfortunately for the woof this means all power to reason seems to have gone out of the window, leaving them apparently as mildly suicidal vegetables.

While it is possible to domesticate the common woof, and there is evidence of this occurring, it is the first known species to have no use whatsoever, though some argue that it was used as a doorstop by island peoples.

Their closest genetic relation is the sparkledog, obtained by breeding a female with a box of glitter.

Paradoy?
Sir, Madam or Neuter, I have studied the sparkledog for many grueling minutes, reading literally dozens of words about them and spending entire afternoons in the field. You may use my scientific findings if you wish, but please do not cite me, I should hate to lose tenure because I was connected to the world of popular entertainment.

This has to do with hating wolves how?

Almost nobody in the group actually hates wolves. This is more a jab at those who draw nothing but wolves but still somehow don't know what one looks like.

Because it's quicker and easier and because it's attention catching. People will either actually read what the group is about and be pleasantly surprised and want to talk, or they'll have a hilarious knee-jerk reaction.
Read the group's focus, it's pretty clear. There are over a hundred members and most of them will tell you they don't hate wolves. They just think they shouldn't be put on a pedestal.

WiltheUnGoth In reply to CindarellaPop [2011-02-20 17:07:53 +0000 UTC]
So you're saying the majority of anti-wolf members are attention-wanting drama queens? If so, that'd make perfect sense considering my brother's stirring up drama everwhere on the homepage.

CindarellaPop In reply to WiltheUnGoth [2011-02-21 04:14:52 +0000 UTC]
Most of them promote the ethical, but practical, relationship of man with all animals. This means treating a wolf with the same respect as a deer, in that we don't think the wolf is "more important" because it's a "cooler" animal.
I don't know who in the group you've been talking to.

Its not wolves themselves I hate, its when they end up being ALL that somone bases their work around *cough*jamjams*cough* not to mention any names... That and the horrid, messed up kiddies drawings of them that seem to be spreading like some sort of sparkle plague, which is what this is supposed to be taking the piss out of. Of course if you personally dislike wolves thats up to you and I can't take issue at that, but personally I'm more fed up with the obsessiveness surrounding them.

WiltheUnGoth In reply to BardicSpoon [2011-02-20 00:28:30 +0000 UTC]
Sparkle wolves aren't exactly wolves. They're made up by idiots, but it doesn't mean this should be submitted to the anti-wolf group, no offense.
