"Dinner," he growled. "I'm hungry."

She swallowed. Hungry ... the word itself sounded almost like a threat. It gave her the strangest feeling in her gut. He was a predator, and she suddenly felt like prey. Her choices had just become a lot simpler: there was simply no questioning the order of things.

"Oh ... yes, I think I will accept your dinner invitation, after all," she said. "Th - thank you."
