Just a five to ten minute doodle sketch thing.He's a lion, yes, but I didn't follow the mane through to the front and went for a more human hair like appearance.

Nice work! I really like the texture and pencil strokes of the mane
As for critique; The neck looks a bit too long, though that may be due to the fact that the head is too thin. It's kind of hard to explain in words how to improve the realism of the anatomy, so it would be best if you'd do some more studies from life

Yes, I can see what you've pointed out. I could do more feral felines to get the feel of their anatomy before I anthropomorphise them.

but I like the realism and roughness, not like all those sweet, beautiful and ideal anthros.

Yes, ten minutes don't allow for much finishing and details (specially when you're not supposed to be drawing in the first place)
But yes, the roughness doesn't get too overbearing I guess
