Great picture. What lens would you recommend for a live band on stage? and do you use a flash?

thanks.
i never use a flash (unless it's so dark that it's absolutely impossible to take shots without it): it destroys colors and lighting.
the lens depends on what your goal is and how you are allowed to shoot.
if you shoot from the audience, a telephoto lens is a must. seldom you'll go below 200mm, most of the times you'll appreciate 300 or 400mm. use a telephoto lens for closeups and portraits.
if you are allowed to shoot from the stage front, you'll typically need lengths between 50 and 150mm. use a medium lens for band shots.
if you can shoot on the stage, a 10mm will allow great perspectives, maybe with a bit of help from the musicians.
i have a 70-300mm lens: it's the only one i use most of times.
