Description this is quite a classic landscape shot of mine of the spectacular mountains of the Alps. Some people told me they feel a bit confined when they're surrounded by mountains - not am I ... I just love the different views you have - wether you're on top or in the valley or just driving around. When I'm coming back from a vacation, seeing the mountains of my hometown again - I just feel home. I love that.

I hope you enjoy it as well?!

take care,

That's good to feel, when it is hard to come back from a long trip to so many beautiful places, that the beauty of your home measures up for you.

Very lovely photo.

Which Alps? I have been to the Austrian Alps. I loved every moment there. I am like you, the mountains let me feel craddled by the earth. As though they are keeping me safe. When my health allowed I did much hiking and climbing all over Washington State and on Vancouver Island, B.C. Your shot is great. Do you have more? If you don't want to post them, email them to me. It is fun to share the love of nature with someone.

question, what range of mountains do you find to be the most spectacular?

1. The rockies
2. Himalayas
3. Japanese Alps
4. New Zealand Alps
5. European Alps
4. The Andes

I love those mountains. On clear days I get a glimpse of them in the distance (on my way to Munich ), but they're so much more astonishing when you're closer.

Thanks for sharing. It's a phantastic shot, I love the colours and the background. It's like a very beautiful memory come together in a picture.

I just can't imagine how long it takes you to get to the top...

Tis a beautiful image Ben. I like the detail of the facing mountain, it would be so easy to have it shrouded in shadows and not able to see much, but you've done great with it. Also like the expanse with those far off mountains provided quite an enticing view.

i wish the greens were bit more saturated and not quite as bright but thats just my personal tastes
love the strong diagnols and cool hazy mountainous bg!

i would be scared of that, because it looks very steep and i'd only think about falling off.. as i do in dreams off steep hills haha.

Looks nice.

But I want to critique it a bit. I live in a valley surrounded by small mountains (600-900m) and when I climb to the top of these the altitude feels wicked, it gives a good feeling being there and watch around. It gives perspective to things. Problem here though is that the whole thing looks flat, and it doesn't look like it is high up, with the exception of the mountains in the far background. Because suposedly these mountains are much higher than the small ones i climb. So what I want to say is that you should try to actually give it more "dimension", what about showing more of the bottom of the valley. Make us as viewers understand at which altitude you're actually at! But maybe I'm wrong, maybe this actually the view that you like, the view that makes you feel at home. All in all you're doing this of own pleasure so

I'm also being a bit critical towards this, since I know your skills. You are skilled and you normally impress with a immensive depth in your photos. And I'm not trying to be an ass.

Lovely! When I first saw the Rocky Mtns, here in Canada, I didn't like them looming over me, but a couple of summers ago, I was there again & loved them. I didn't want to leave
