Description Next Spacepic up.

I've been fooling around a lot in Terragen lately. Just to practise and this is the first artwork with one of the resulting renders. I know I'm no Terragen-Pro but I'm working on getting at least a bit better at it. Planets are created in Photoshop.
The clouds are stock photos maniped in. I'm glad the manip turned out better than in Daydreams where I actually had wished for the clouds to be better visible.
I don't know how many hours and layers exactly. But I'm guessing about 10 Hours and maybe 150 Layers...

Hate it or love it.

holy shiz.

what did u use for the planets' surfaces? just stock pic or sumthin or did u make that all yourself?

b/c i usually use stock pics of dirt, rocks, sand, etc all stitched together for that.

I really like the terrain but I do'nt think the clouds fit with the picture as a whole. It might just be the brightness but they just separate, not combine. I adore the planet side.

thank you. i like the clouds ^^. i understand that some people don't but the clouds where part of the main focus in this picture.

First artwork in Terragen? Hmm... It certainly doesn't look like it. Let's see... I like the whole composition, especially how well you depicted the enormous mass of those two planets. Their textures also look really good. The terragen part fits well with the rest of the image, and yes, the clouds are quite beautiful.

I really apreciate the idea of size given by this work, planets really appears as huge, i think this is particulary due to the smallest planet which gives an idea of scale for the rest.

Baro In reply to Urus-28 [2006-03-09 15:03:54 +0000 UTC]

thx a lot. glad you like this. I have allways been fascinated of the proportions of for instance our solar system. if you look at size differences of the sun and pluto, pluto would look like one pixel on screen while the sun wouldn't fit on it. So I'm glad this came accross in this picture.

keep up the good work!

also, what did u use for the planets' terrain? i usually use stuff from the Earth Observatory at nasa.gov

Baro In reply to fuelfreak108 [2006-03-06 15:57:16 +0000 UTC]

i mostly use planet textures of different planets and fiddle them together to pretty large textures via clone tool. But that is only one of many ways and it's best to get creative. i too allways try to do different things... just be creative
