Oh Petina will tell you the world is a better place with mermice in it.

As one who's shared the aquarium with her, I can say she's quite at home in the water.

I'm assuming the aquarium she was using for this performance had a water heater system to prevent her from becoming hypothermic as even a human immersed in room-temperature water for a prolonged period can begin to suffer the effects, let alone something less than a foot tall.

Yep the tank is heated, and for mice and rats the chances for hypothermia are even more acute due to their small size to surface area. Even after getting out of the water if one does not dry off immediately it is possible to succumb to it if there is a steady breeze and one is in a shady place. Also until relatively recently most places where a mouse or rat could swim in might have fish that are big enough to eat you. When you're only 8.5" tall it is a lot easier to fall back into the food chain. Therefore is it is unusual to find a mouse or rat who is interested in swimming, but Petina is a bit unusual to begin with.

I remember you mentioning in the pic of Petina and Jackie scuba diving how the film crew had to take extraordinary precautions to ensure the area was clear of predatory wildlife that could have a go at the girls during the shoot. I imagine that if sufficient interest could be generated among the target clientelle, custom-made swimming facilities could be quite a lucrative business venture as a safe and secure place to indulge in the hobby.

Yes and they chose an area in the Caribbean where the water temperatures remained very warm even ten or fifteen feet down.

Included not only a heated pool (with lifeguards) but heated room and heat lamps to avoid the slightest chance of hypothermia.

Probably doesn't help that I have a bit of a 'thing' for the mermaid look. ^_^

Well Petina particularly likes the mermaid look, although she's rather fond of this sea lion look.

That suit is one of the few things that can restrain Petina in any way, isn't it?
