The moon told of love
Which followed them into dreams
World peace just once

Velveteen dreams glide
Under the moon's blushing gaze
Soft as a lover

So a fox?
I always think of werewolves when there are shredded clouds blowing quickly over the moon more than during a blood moon, or even just the full moon, so that's what I've been calling a "wolf moon"; maybe it's just because the wind at night scares me...

The wind at night scares you. I think it is rather exhilarating. Actually the true "wolf moon" stems from the old viking traditon of refering to the full moon of January by that name since it was the beginning of the season of winter where hungry wolves were the most troublesome and dangerous. I wrote this last year when the wolf moon was also a blood moon. There was also a blue moon last year too.
I had to look it up again myself since it had been over a year since I wrote it. You are right about how spooky it looks when the moon (especially a blood moon) is peering out from a tattered veil of racing clouds. However i am weird. To me it calls to me. the tingle of fear just excites and thrills.
Do you know how cops always say the full moon brings out the crazies? I guess I was one of them. When I was a teenager and into my early twenties when the night winds called to me and the wolf moon howled its silent dirge from across the cloud-wracked skies, I was the weirdo that felt compelled to put on dark camouflage from head to toe, grab my trusty staff and go out stalking the rolling mountainsides overlooking the oak grove of my home until the fear got so strong I could no longer resist and came running back down the mountside leaping logs and fences with the ghosts of my mind's manufacture hot on my heels from the night shrouded forest at my back.
Yes. I really was a creepy guy.back then. They kind that liked ot hang out in cemeteries at night playing hide and seek. That is one of the advantages of living out in places so remote that your nearest neighbors are nowhere in sight. Weirdos who act creepy never get busted by anyone. And yes, my parents knew I was doing it. I had weird parents who let me do all kinds of crazy things like collecting animal skulls I found on the mountainsides.
LOL maybe I shouldn't tell you all that and freak you out. Don't worry i am harmless. <_< No seriously, I really am just a big fluffy froggy... of course frogs are mostly nocturnal... you know...creatures of the night. lol

I love big, warm, gusty winds by day; I'd love to be able to fly on one of those. I don't mind being out after dark; I've been out tons of times with friends where I used to work. But I'm a herd animal; I'd never go anywhere alone, especially in the wild.

Excellent poem. As always, you've captured deep emotion with such descriptive imagery. I've seldom heard the term "wolf moon", I'm intrigued.

The first time I heard about it was last year when i wrote the poem. It comes from a old viking traditions. The full moon of January was known as the wolf moon because it was the season when hungry wolves started to become more of a problem for the Scandinavians and their livestock

Shen I wrote this last year was the first I had ever heard of a wolf moon. I remember the news was talking about it like it was a big deal. It has been over a year though so I don't remember all the details. It guess it was pretty unusual for the wolf moon to also be a blood moon, either that or I just all my facts completely screwed up and just need to delete this poem out of sheer embarrassment. :/
