Λέω ελληνικά καί γερμανικά λίγο. Δίδάσκω αρχαία ελληνικά και λατινικά στο πανεπιστήμιο. Δεν υπάρχει ενα μετρό εδώ!

I speak a little Greek and German; I teach ancient Greek and Latin here at Ohio State. No metro here in Ohio; that was the first time I had ever been on a metro!

Wow, εντυπωσιαστηκα! Έχεις λιγο περίεργη σύνταξη στις προτάσεις αλλα καταλαβαίνω άνετα τι εννοείς. Νόμιζα πως στην Αμερική οι υπόγιοι Σιδηρόδρορομοι ήταν αρκετά διαδεδομένοι! Τι κείμενα διδάσκεις στα αρχαια Ελληνικά.

I'm impressed! Your sentenses might have a bit strange composition but i can understand what you're saying very comfortably. I just thought that subways were very common in the US. What texts do you teach in ancient Greek.

Only the biggest cities here have metros or trains, unfortunately. Ohio has 12 million people and none of the cities have metros.

I have only studied Modern Greek for about a year, and I know my word order is too English sounding, but I try. I mostly read it (not write it), so I had no problem reading what you wrote! I was the only non-Greek in my Greek class; it is not a popular language in America (most prefer Spanish or French).

I teach about anything in ancient Greek. It is my true love

Χαίρομαι που με καταλαβαίνεις τοτε!
Εμείς στο σχολείο κάναμε αρκετά κείμενα μετεφρασμένα όπως Όμήρου Ιλιαδα' και Ομήρου Οδήσεια και παρα πολλα άλλα. (στισ μικρες τάξεις. Ενώ στο Λύκειο (highschool) καναμε Αντιγόνη αλλα αμετάφραστο κείμενο οπότε εκεί μαθαίναμε να κάνουμε μετάφραση. Επίσης καναμε αρκετά γραμματική (ρήματα, ουσιαστικά etc). Η αήθεια είναι πως δέν τηυμάμαι πολλά πράγματα απο Αρχαία Ελληνικά.
Εδώ στην Ελλάδα τα παίδία στο σχόλείο το μισούνε το μάθημα, οπότε καταλαβαίνεισ γιατί μου φαίνεται περίεργο που σου αρέσουν τόσο.

yeah, when I tell people here what I do for a living their reaction is usually you do what?!? They think I am crazy, too. I am thinking of submitting some of my translations to Deviant Art, since I think that translation is indeed an art! What do you think?

It is nice to get to practice my Greek!

Why not! I usually prefer image art but i'd sure read a few ancient greek stories. Try some of the classic texts like Homers because they are more interesting in the storyline! Its really sad to see movies like Troy based on those books being soooo innacurate.

I really had no idea about this whole ban thing! When i heard it i had the same reaction as you! What really angers me is that they ban photography in a public place like that while they are placing everywhere cameras that SPY on US. Thats not so fair is it?
