It could have, originally I was going to have him holding an assault rifle. but I did it wrong, then a shotgun, same issue, finally settled on the handgun.

His weapon of choice really is the pistol, though. In fact the only thing that seems off is that he's carrying the BFG, when he's not used one in the comic yet.
