That...is absolutely amazing, but the link to the pattern you used (which I know you modified) is broken. By any chance, did you keep the patterns? I have a friend who just went to study abroad in China and she could really use something like this to cheer her up...

Thank you!
And yes, I do have the "How-to" saved in PDF form along with the pattern print-out files. BabyLondonStar has removed her account since I posted all my plushies which is why the link is broken, she used to have them all on her page. BUT, I actually did a little google search and found that she still has a site up, and on that, her patterns that I've used. Here it is...

If that doesn't work for you, feel free to message me your email address and I'll shoot them off your way!

This is great! Thanks! I hate to keep harassing you, but where did you get your fabrics from? Especially the clothing pieces and the legs? I just feel like I'm going to have a hard time finding matching materials, and I'm kind of a perfectionist, which makes it really hard for me to do stuff like this, lol. >_<

Everything came from my local Jo~ann fabric and craft store. The velvety maroon fabric, the white lightly floral printed legging fabric, shiny silver fabric, silver puffy paint like stuff, jewelry pieces, hair fabric, see-through purple cape fabric, iron-on flowers, etc... I think I had to get the iron-on pages for the eyes from somewhere else, and the chain that brings the cape together was cut from an old sterling silver necklace I had laying around, but that's basically it!
It took A LOT of searching that store for the perfect materials, hours upon hours till I got everything I knew I'd be happy with, and then many return trips. And if you need any more help don't hesitate to ask! Definitely not harassing me!

I really appreciate it!Β I'm in the process of collecting the materials myself.Β I hope to start it next month or so...Gotta get it done by late September. :\

No problem! Best of luck to you, let me know if you need any more help, and I'd love to see how she turns out when she's all done!

Also, did you sew the fabric for the clothing onto the felt, or did you cut them out of their own fabric an patchwork it together and hide the seams with the paint?

Sewed them directly onto the felt, then hide the seams with the paint and sash for around her middle. I think the idea worked pretty well!Β
The paint though, was one of the worst parts about this... It was SO difficult to get it to dry correctly, smoothly (without cracking), without getting on the rest of the fabric, etc... I can't even tell you how many times and layers it took me to get the finished product above. If I were to go back and do it all over again, I would've gotten the paint DONE before I sewed her together, I was dumb and literally waited for that to be one of the last parts of the entire thing. DON'T. DO. THAT. Get her clothes sewed on the felt, lay them all out individually, then spend a lot of time getting the paint right before going any further. You could always do touchups at the end, but tape off and do the paint while everything is still flat and easy to get to. I still have nightmares about how I did it

Just got my first arm done.Β Damn, this takes a while, lol.Β Quick question about the flower decals, did you iron them on before or after you sewed the parts together?Β Like, did you do it before sewing or before stuffing?

bassoonhero In reply to VictorKorlain [2013-09-09 23:42:51 +0000 UTC]
Before stuffing. I basically sewed the clothes onto the body base, and then did the flowers after that. Just ironing them on though isn't too secure, so I made sure to blend in some thread and sew them down a little bit once they were placed on.

Question for you.Β Did you iron on the decals before or after you sewed the doll together?Β I'm at the point where I'm ready to start cutting things out, and I figured I should figure that out before I actually take a scissor to fabric.

BEFORE I sewed her together completely, but after I cut everything out and sewed some things. It's kinda hard to explain... I did a base for the "skin color", then sewed the clothing material on top of that base, THEN did the iron-ons. I actually have a link in the description that shows her kind of in-progress as she was being made, hopefully that helps a little. I'll just paste it here too: www.flickr.com/photos/woottwinβ¦

It is a shame stuff like this isn't so much easier to mass produce. I know there are a TON of characters I would love to have or try to make plushie versions of, but they're just so darn time consuming to create.
