Description You may remember Matilda, right? Well, remember when I said that each time she would enter any one of the worlds of the B-K/B-T universe, her clothes would change to match? Well, pictured here are all her Banjo-Kazooie forms. (Note: Some of you may also remember that I once posted a similar pic some years ago, but now my old account and everything on it is gone from the internet. Now, I've made a new-and-improved version of Matty's many world costumes, with some updates and mild alterations. (Basically, same concept, new designs, for some of them at least)

The first thing I would like to point out is the whereas Matilda's old wardrobe could rang from skimpy dresses to long ball gowns to thong bikinis to completely nude. Which felt right for me at the time (being a younger, fearless and more sexual person than I am now at 31. But now I've evened out somewhat, and thus my newer creations have changed to reflect that.
Sooo, anyway, this new system has all of Matilda's costumes, (while all different from each other, of course) all share roughly the same design; That being that of her default dress that she usually wears, with short sleeves, a skirt cut just below the knees, and with (usually) 2 patches on the front of the skirt, the design of which are always in the shape of something to reflect that particular world. (FYI, Matty is not the first video game character to utilize this trope; Alice Liddel from American Mcgee's Alice/Madness Returns, Sora/Kairi and co. from Kingdom Hearts, and even our own Banjo-Kazooie cast in Nuts & Bolts have done this!)

So, without further ado, let's roll out the red carpet and see what our star model is wearing tonight, shall we?

Mumbo's Mountain
Matilda's first world costume is of the tribal/bushman (bushwoman?) theme, with a thick dry grass skirt and simple brown burlap off-shoulder top. Her arms are bare, as are her feet (though the thick anklets around her ankles seem to almost give the resemblance of the socks she normally wears) Her jewelry is simple and tribal, and her hair is in what appear to be semi-dreadlocks, for a more "African" vibe. She also sports a trio of red feathers in her hair, to honor her friend and mentor Mumbo, as well as the culture of the Grublin natives. This dress has no patches. While not normally violent by nature, Matty is still willing to defend herself if need be, and thus keeps a simple weapon or other handy in most of her forms. In this case, her weapon of choice is a long quarterstaff.

Treasure Trove Cove
Stepping into the sandy beaches of the second world sees Matty into a mixture of piratess and beachgoer; Sporting a magenta-colored beach dress with 2 patches that resemble a crap and a clam shell. (Possibly to represent the Snippets and Yum-Yums, maybe?) The simple dress also comes with a handful of pirate accessories, such as a head bandana, some gold hoop earrings, and flip-flop sandals. Her weapon is a pirate sword.

Clanker's Cavern
Matilda's third world costume has got to be one of her stranger-looking ones; In a sewer-themed world, she's mutated into a full-on amphibious-mutant thing (Gillwoman? Gillgirl?) In this form, she rather resembles the Mutie-Snippets and Klungo, most likely from being exposed to the same chemicals as them; Her skin is a blend of green and caucasian, her eyes are of uneven sizes, and her digits are of uneven, incorrect numbers. Even her clothes resemble something that one would find in a gutter someplace: A tattered, dull, dirty pink dress with patches in the image of a sewer grating and a fishbone. Her earrings even resemble tiny metal nuts! Like this, Matilda has no weapons with which to defend herself. Thankfully, the Cavern has few enemies, most of which are easily avoided, especially since A, Matty's sticky skin enables her to climb walls and thus evade baddies that way, and B, the gills on her neck allow her to breathe underwater, a must when exploring this dark, watery level.

Bubblegloop Swamp
This ensemble is of a feminine "Crocodile Dundee" theme; (Complete with signature croc-tooth hat!) A crocodile-skin skirt and boots (since these outfits are magical, no actual crocs were harmed to make these) for trudging through the deadly swamp waters, (the piranhas don't seem to know the difference between the croc-skin boots and an actual croc and thus leave Matilda alone) and crocodile teeth for jewelry. (again, no crocs were harmed) Her weapon is a small hunting knife. (Also, the humid environs seem to make her hair a bit unkempt)

Freezeezy Peak
Matty is dressed warmly in a cute indigo winter dress with white fur trim, as well as a snow hat to match. On her hands and feet are snug black winter gloves and boots, the latter of which also possessing white fur trim. A red and white scarf hangs from her neck and on her legs are stockings to match. The patches are of a present and a snowflake. While this outfit does not come with any weapons of its own, Matty can hurl snowballs as projectiles if need be. (Also, note the cute Christmas elf ears for a nice touch!)

Gobi's Valley
It's out of the refridgerator and into the frying pan as Matilda dons a Cleopatra-esque Egyptian princess costume, as befitting of a future ruler. She wears a white sleeveless dress with sunny gold and Nile blue trim with patches in the shape of a scarab and an ankh. This outfit is her most richly-jeweled, with a large gold, blue and green collar to shield her shoulders from the harsh desert sunlight, gold arm bands resembling snakes and gold hoop earrings with blue charms. Most impressively, on her head is a golden Egyptian crown shaped like a bird. (a vulture, I think?) Matty has no real weapons to speak of, and instead must use her "royal influence" (the Mum-Mums mistake her for a goddess!) to survive. Also, a waterskin hangs on a string around her waist, perfect for keeping her friends and herself hydrated!

Mad Monster Mansion
Matilda's form for this spooky world is of a ghostlike in nature; she has become a green-skinned floating spectral being (similar to the Tee-Hees, whom she shares a secret connection with, but that's another story) in a simple tattered lavender nightdress similar to that of Regan Macneil from The Exorcist (She can even rotate her entire head and spit pea soup to defend Banjo and Kazooie!). Her feet are bare and the dress has no patches. While Matty possesses no weapons she does not need them as she is intangable and invulnerable.

Rusty Bucket Bay
Matty dons some sea legs in a sailor's dress and bandana. (Naturally, the patches are in the image of anchors) Her arms and legs are clad in thick black gloves and boots for some hard labor about the oily rig, as she works hard to prove to the Seaman Grublins that women can make good sailors too! While not pictured here, she can use a mop as a weapon in addition to a cleaning tool. (Also, the "Mom" tattoo on her arm is a nice touch!)

Click Clock Wood
This version of Matilda is rather elflike in nature (complete with pointed ears!); While the one shown here is only the version worn in the world's central hub, the color, the length of the skirt/sleeves, patches (feathers, in this case) shoes and jewelry all vary with the changing seasons! This versions dress is a gentle blend of green and beige with a medium-length skirt and short sleeves, both possessing matching fringe for an almost Native American/wood elf feel. Her shoes are soft ballet flats with bindings around the calves. A necklace made of stones and feathers hangs around her neck, while dangly, feather-like earrings from her lobes and a feather hangs down her hair. Her only weapon is a small hunting knife wrapped in a cloth sheath. (She was originally to have a bow and arrows but I scrapped them, preferring to keep this costume more peaceful-looking in nature)
