You can Ritual Summon this card with "Contract with the Abyss". Must first be either Ritual Summoned, or Special Summoned with the effect of “A Deal with a Dark Ruler”. Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can make this card lose exactly 500 ATK, and if you do, destroy 1 monster your opponent controls. This card can attack all monsters your opponent controls, once each. If this card battles an opponent's monster, any battle damage this card inflicts to your opponent is doubled.

do you really need to make it "You can make this card lose exactly 500 ATK" rather then something along the lines of "This card loses 500 ATK"?

Of course, otherwise it won’t be optional. Also that’s the official wording.

Because if I don't add the "exactly" bit, the effect is going to be activated even if its ATK is lower than 500.
