Description Kinda cute, isn't it ?

Yeah, yeah, it's just me and my sick mind again This time trying to imagine the pose for breastfeeding in my centaurs' world.

By the way - that about the effect I'm trying to achieve when I draw a comic. It's almost as detailed and labor-consuming as my usual "big" drawings - and if I was drawing the whole comic this way I would need few hundred years to finish it... Yeah, I certainly have problems with my comic style

What do you mean - more of breast feeding centaurs?

Mothers in general rearing their children in the most natural way.

This is the image I've been looking for:  Motherhood withing the centaur's world!

Hehe, why not actually? Are centaurs really so very different from any other living creatures? (Well, not to count their anatomy of course...)

Thank you for stopping by!

You're quite welcome.  And that bring's up a question:  When the child is old enough to stand on its own hooves, does it still nurse from the human breasts, or does it draw milk from the teats between her hind legs (should she have any)?

I've seen some picture here on dA showing how one little centaurs is feeding from the "human" breast while at the same time the other is by the "horse". Personally I'm not sure if drinking from the hind legs area would not be too difficult with "human" head (and so I was thinking that "horse" teats would then be atrophic - like breasts in human males). Nevertheless - I can not argue with the fact, that with just "human" breasts it would not be very comfortable for the mother - to lay down every time her already-walking baby wanted to eat :/
So let's just pretend that every centaur female has been "equipted" with both horse and human breasts but the actual way she is nursing - depends on the local tradition (or fashion) and her own choince

That is a good question, and I've always wondered about the mother feeding one or two older, walking children when out and about.  As centaurs are mythical creatures, it is up to whoever conjures them up for either gaming or artistic reasons to decide.  As for breastfeeding from the human standpoint, would she kneel down to the child could walk up and partake from her breasts while standing itself?  As I've said, I'll leave it to others to decide that course of action.  But your piece of mother feeding child is still a good one.

Yeah, I'm sure baby centaurs would be able to do this; She's much stronger since they're both half horse.

Well, I even have an idea for a short comic story about these two - I just need to force myself and draw it finally... I'm happy you liked the pic!

I have name ideas. The mom's name Nakra can be and the baby's name can be Kyania. (Weird names, I know.)

I like the names They sound quite all right, I think I may use them... And don't worry, I guess some names I usually imagine are even more weird

Hmmm.... czyżby zatem centaury były gatunkiem pochodnym, bo pierwotne były krowolamparty? Ach, te taury, z nimi to nigdy nic nie wiadomo...

I imagine centaurs could choose to feed their babies from their horse halves - not sure whether that would be easier or not! Adorable picture. Love it.

Batri In reply to ThornyEnglishRose [2011-04-26 21:20:58 +0000 UTC]

Thx!
I chose to think a newborn centaur can't stand on his own - so maybe it's easier for the mother to hold him in her arms and feed with her "human" breast? But I think she may use her horse half as well - especially when her baby is big enough to stand.

ThornyEnglishRose In reply to Batri [2011-04-26 21:22:55 +0000 UTC]

I tend to think baby centaurs can stand pretty much straightaway, like foals, as they have horse bodies. Of course, that's the beauty of fantasy - we can all interpret such things as we like.

I very much respect the difficulty of this image and your take on a big question about centaur anatomy, you were positive and clear. It's also a delightful subject, your proportions are excellent, and so, all in all, I'm going to have to fave it. Thank you for sharing it.

Batri In reply to MensjeDeZeemeermin [2011-04-22 13:34:35 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, I'm really glad you liked that so much I guess the picture would be much harder to draw if it was bigger (easier to make mistakes in pose, proportions, shading etc.) but I think I'll try making bigger one some day too. Thank you for your comment!
