Description If you get the joke behind the title, chances are you know who THIS little orange rat is...
I've been a reluctant fan of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger for a while but I gotta say I like him. Originally, I thought it was just another game staring a lesser-known australian animal, much like with Crash Bandicoot, but when I figured what did I have to lose, (Other then 7 bucks for a used copy of the game) I realised it's actually pretty fun.
Then I found out it was my cousins favorite game, and got into the sequal.

Anyway, I finally ended up buying the third and final game last week and I gotta say for a game series- it's a pretty fun ride. I love Ty, Shazza, Ranger Ken, Lenny, that freaky little gay wimp frog Dennis, and all the other inhabitants of Burramudgee.

I appologise that I drew this partly from memory without a referance, so I didn't include the flower pattern on his shorts(cause I didn't know where the flowers went specifically.)

you know, for some strange reason, Ty the tasmanian Tiger has reminded me of Nack the weasel for some weird reason....

Can U make make a picture that looks like Dennis getting kidnapped- hands tied behind his back, tape gagged, and locked in a room.
Or other bound and gagged Ty the Tasmanian Tiger boys.

No nudies! Make Dennis kidnapped maybe just once.

I hardly see any Ty fanart around here. Nice work, dude. I love the first game and the third game a lot, but the second game was a little cheezy

I kind of like them all. Second one made me think of a Ty Tv show, which I heard they were planning on making...

I actually played it, and I like it. But there are no more sequels because Activision and EA stop having agreements with Krome Studios.

Heard of this game many times, never played it though.
He came out pretty damn good, for a picture just from memory. Guess that also tells me how good a game it is.

As you'll see if you look over a lot of the comments (Specially that one response I gave Rugalb) you'll see that I honestly thought this game would suck big time and that I wouldn't like it. While it's not groundbreakingly good, the characters are lovable, the gameplay is fun, and the humor WILL have you laughing:
Ty: How come I have to be the one transporting dangerous explosives?
Julian: Because nobody else is daft enough to do it!
Ty: (Thinking it over a bit) Fair enough...

If you ever need help with beating the bosses(It took me WEEKS to figure out how to beat Crikey; a shark that Boss Cass hooked up to a cybornetic mind-control headset)I could help you.

The other two games are pretty streightforward.

I hate to admit it, but I purposely avoided his games because of that commercial that showed Spyro, Crash, and Sonic in caskets, potentially beaten up by Ty. I was such a fanboy back then . Always had some interest in the games, though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

battybuddy In reply to Code5 [2008-06-24 02:39:02 +0000 UTC]

That was another thing that made me reluctant to give it a try(I almost forgot that commercial, but thanks for reminding me cause it brings up an important point.); namely the way they played the "Rivalry of Mascots" angle... Ty is a good game... But so is Crash... and Spyro... And yes- even though not so much anymore- even Sonic. If you try to pit them against each other, it only leads to pissing people off.

Nintendo pissed me off recently by having a bunch of graves for handheld gaming systems with an open grave for PSP... I mean, sure Nintendo's pretty much held all the cards with Game Boy- but Game Boy didn't last- it changed; if Nintendo really wanted to be fair and truthful- there should have been a grave for Game Boy original, Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advanced... Just cause you kept the same name for prefaces doesn't change the fact that it's a new system, Nintendo.

battybuddy In reply to Rugalb95 [2008-06-24 03:09:28 +0000 UTC]

Geeze I just noticed something...

List of reasons I didn't want to try the game series when it was new:

1) He doesn't look that much like a Thylacine
2) The over-confident Mascot-killer commercial that Code5 mentions below
3) The whole "Jumping on the Crash Bandicoot bandwagon" thing with a lesser known creature
4) The artwork on the cover didn't appeal to me
5) The fact that boomerangs are too cliche an Aussie weapon
6) He didn't seem to have too vivid an array of facial expressions(Just from pictures)

That was six strikes against it already... Makes me wonder why I got up the courage to try it when it was $7... Oh well- I guess when you're that convinced that something is going to suck big time the only direction it could go is up from there.

Thats another thing that made me reluctant to pick up his games until later when they were cheap.

battybuddy In reply to JakeMcCormick [2008-06-24 04:04:46 +0000 UTC]

Actually, a lot of the aspects of Ty seemed more home-grown, if you will... Like a guy and his friends were just joking around and they came up with something then they made it...

Example: One of the levels has Lenny the Lyrebird(A bird so called cause it's tail feathers look like a lyre- as in the musical instrument.) In Lenny's case, however, he's a COMPULSIVE LIAR! The entire level consists of Lenny running ahead of you and giving you advice... advice that you have to do the exact OPPOSITE of ALL THE TIME!

Hence, Lenny quickly became one of my favorite Ty regulars(He got a job telling stories to preschoolers in Ty 2. )

Give it a try if you see the game... One word of advice, games 2 and 3 are way different from game 1. Game 1 is more a traditional 3D scavanger hunt through levels much like Banjo Kazooie, and games 2 and 3 are more mission levels all connected by a gigantic hub, like with Grand Theft Auto...

Also game 1 is the only one with extra lives... The other two games, Ty can die as often as you like without getting a game over... But they did a cool thing to make loading times seem more interesting by having Ty go through a sort of "Air lock" between levels... You could still control him and everything, so it didn't seem like a loading screen.

So it's kinda like Ray Man serise

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

battybuddy In reply to LiveWireGuitar [2008-06-23 16:44:28 +0000 UTC]

Well, the Ray Man series underwent a story change.

Ty basically has the same story all the way through(In fact, one of the bad guys who was featured in all three games; Fluffy the Thorny Devil, sacrifices herself in the ending of Ty 3 to save Ty's life, and several characters are in all the games and make referances to the previous games... Like Ty's brother Sly having a hatred for the main bad guy: Boss Cass, cause he used to work for him.) just the gameplay's different.

There was talk about giving Ty a cartoon series, and while that was never done, the game feels like a cartoon series.
