Well, well, well- looky here. It's my still-relatively-nameless Dig Dug fancharacter; MRS. Dig Dug.I had this idea for Dig Dug to go all Steve Irwin, and document the behavoir and habits of Pookas. This was one idea I had for a joke.

Yeah, I heard about it. Haven't seen her yet, but I still like drawing this one.
I created this character a long time ago. Actually long before they officially made Dig Dug Susumu's father... Long BEFORE Mr. Driller existed in fact. 
After the Mr Driller/Dig Dug connection, I ended up including him in my own stuff, and using the name Taizo, but after Namco started doing other things to the character I kind of broke it off from their storyline- just keeping the stuff that I had. I almost have a complete fan series based around my memories of Dig Dug and my own opinions on what the plot was.
I don't know, I never saw Dig Dug as a stupid idiot like they're trying to make him. Think of this as kind of a fan-created branch that sprung off the tree that is Namco, went along with it for a while, and then broke off and tried turning itself into a seperate tree of it's own.
Don't get me wrong- I still LOVE Namco, Dig Dug, and Mr. Driller- lets just say this is a tribute that I like taking in my own fan-made direction.

I wouldn't mind seeing a pic... but I'm kind of nervous. When I found out that they did that I wondered how people would see Mrs. Dig Dug after the Cannon character, specially since mine's a little over a decade older but probably won't be accepted as anything really.
You know the feeling, you create a character, pour a lot of love into their design(Just so you know, for example, the design on Mrs. Dig Dug's shirt is a simplized version of the symble for an electrical ground, much like Dig Dug's is a symble for earth), then something changes up and everyone thinks your characters lame just cause it's not "Cannon".

awww yeah I totally understand. Like when I used to make up pokemon, only to have new ones based on the same animals I based them on show up D: Dont worry though, i doubt anyone would think your characters are lame, even if theyre not canon! Specially when you can tell how much you put into the character! and so thats why its that symbol on her, thats clever : O

technically though, your character could still be valid in canon, since taizo and masuyo apparently had some kind of split-up or divorce XD

Haha, I must be biased cuz I LOVE masuyo XD She always seemed pretty hardcore to me, like an early samus-type character. Namco just loves to crossover their old series, lol.
Hahahaha, nice. Personally, I myself thought to myself recently why there wasnt a "ms. dig dug", going by namco's usual trends of naming things back in the day XD

Well, originally it was inspired by the book "The Gnomes". If you haven't read it, it's basically a book taking a look at gnomes from a zoological aspect. I was a fan of that book...
And as for the Crocodile Hunter- what better way to make ANY zoological documentary then to have a crazy-ass guy with a funny accent wrestle an animal to the ground just so he can show you it's teeth?
