Description
This is taken almoust a month ago in the studio at my school. ItΒ΄s of my classmate Jesse who wanted a portrait taken of him. So any critique, advice or comment on how I have managed on my first portrait captures is appreciated.1/125 f/20

If you didn't mention it, I wouldn't have thought this was your first studio portrait. His expression isn't blank and the lighting is excellent.

I love the contrast between the two sides of his face, interesting angle too at a slight slant. It works well

This is an excelent portrait. The model is staring through the camera right in to the heart and mind of the viewer. This is awesome as is, here are some thing that you can try to mix things up and add to your portfolio.
*moving the shadow side of his face towards the camera by either moving the models face or moving the camera.
*getting up on a ladder and shoot down
*sit on the ground and shoot up
*back up to get more of his torso

great lighting and the exposure is excellent - creates a really fine effect. The overall color scheme is also fantastic. All in all, I think it's a great studio piece!
