Description
This is for the LOTR contest held byBased off of a Frazetta pic of Gandalf...Added my own shading style and change a few things...Took about 3 hours (Mainly cause I'm sick >_< )

Nice Gandalf! Too many recent ones are replicas of the movie character. This one is nicely styled, but you know who it is at the same time.

I am a fan of the famous great illustrator fathers Frank Frazetta. I remember the original pic and yours respects it. Great job.

Heh Thanks. Haven't seen Fire and Ice yet, but the Independent Film Channel shows Painting with Fire every now and then...Saw that one a while back and fell in love with Frazetta's work

Really cool...it reminds me as if it was from LOTR comic book from the 70's or something because it looks aged. I like that, and your inking and movement of it is great. Nice job!

Nice inking piece! Looks a bit like the style of Hellboy artist Mignola, but with some differences. I remember the Frazetta ink piece this was based on! But your contrast and use of shade is different and cool! Frazetta is a legend (and fine fantasy artist...one of my influences!) Good style!

Your use of black & white contrast is very cool! As for the comparisons, Mignola and Miller are really great comic artist, to be certain. Emulating them can only make your art better and your in good company. In time, I'm sure you'll come up with something so freakin' unique, that YOUR NAME will be mentioned as an influence to future artist!!
Frazetta is The Master of Fanasy Art and The Man!! No doubt, there are lots of great artist out there, but Frank opened so many doors, he deserves all the praise he gets. If I can achieve a tenth of his success, I will consider myself very blessed!

Heh...Too tell the truth, I never even knew of Miller or Mignola before this past year t.t I credit my influence to a local comic artist who goes by EricJ...I fell in love with his work, and started inking because of it t.t But I certainly don't mind being compared with artists as good and as popular as the above two ^^

Thanks for your vote of confidence in my work. I really appreciate it. Mignola & Miller have influenced a lot of artists, but in many ways are 'underground' in terms of style. You are definitely your own artist, and though people can make comparisons to almost any other artist, your choices of inks and layouts make your art & style original. So keep rockin' that art!

Haha very nice. I love Gandalf, especially when he's smoking on his pipe...He looks so peaceful then. I think his nose needs to be a tad bit bigger
