"Hiccup!" merida shouted as she ran into the burning blaze. "Merida hold on!" jack called after her, catching up.
merida jumped over the remains of what was a house. "Toothless?"
there was no sound except the sounds of flames and what remained of berk collapsing.
"he's not here mer. maybe he got away before grimmel hit." rapunzel said coming up behind her.
"look around punz...there's no sign of that!" merida snapped. rapunzel heistated, then sighed. merida turned away and kept calling for hiccup and toothless who weren't answering. jack put a comforting hand on rapunzel's shoulder. "she's not herself." he said. "she's worried about hiccup."
"we all are." rapunzel said.
"over here!" merida suddenly called out. jack and rapunzel ran over just as merida picked something up from the dirt.
"what is it? what'd you find?" jack asked
merida turned around, a look of horror on her face. in her hands was hiccup's flying helmet. one side was bashed in and covered in blood.
"branch out! they gotta be close!" jack said as he and rapunzel ran around and started looking around.
merida stayed where she was, looking the helmet over in her hands. her breath caught in her throat.
"hiccup! toothless!"
"where are you?"
jack and rapunzel still ran and checked under piles of wood and rock.
merida looked around.
berk had been burned to the ground, hiccup and toothless were missing. she looked to the sky.
"they were taken...they're not here....." merida said, her eyes going wide. jack and rapunzel both stopped and looked at her. "huh?"
merida clutched hiccup's helmet close to her chest. "get the dragons...we go now."
jack looked confused. "go where?"
merida did her best to not tear up.
"pitch and grimmel....they have hiccup and toothless..." she said.
