if you go to the materials tab, then go to Metals -> Reflective or Bright i think it is, and look for mirror.
I personally prefer using a smoked/cloudy silver effect

Sis in law gave me an old(er) computer, and Bryce was on it. Doesn't look like the program was ever used - judging by a search for stuff that might have been created. Anyway, opened the program and having never used Bryce before I found your tutorial extrememly helpful! I've created my first bryce project and am really impressed with my efforts (and yours!) Me thinks I'll love this new adventure

Lektronk [2006-04-01 05:09:09 +0000 UTC]

how long should it take to render something like this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bdk14 In reply to Lektronk [2006-04-01 09:24:26 +0000 UTC]

depends on the materials and the render quality, it normally takes between 6 hours and 30 hours

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lektronk In reply to bdk14 [2006-04-01 15:20:42 +0000 UTC]

i am using a bunch of tourus' rotated and resized with blue aluminum transparent and the sphere with mirror

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bdk14 In reply to Lektronk [2006-04-02 11:32:52 +0000 UTC]

hmm then it will be about 3-8 hours of rendering on superfine quality

Thanks so much for sharing this! The results you get are awesome! I hope you'll post another Bryce tutorial sometime. I've been using Bryce for a while now, but I'm self-taught so it's always nice to see how other people get their really great results like you do. I'll come back and show you what I get when I finish going through the tutorial.

Sharcu In reply to bdk14 [2006-03-25 00:32:24 +0000 UTC]

I hope you do post another tutorial.
I did something this morning, but it's taking forever to render out.
It's on 30% so far and I've been rendering it for like 7-8 hours so far.
My computer isn't slow, either... plus it's only like 600x400 or something like that.
I can't figure out why it's going so slow. It's similar to my other renders I've done.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bdk14 In reply to Sharcu [2006-03-25 12:03:39 +0000 UTC]

ok, thats rather simple, bryce needs to calculate every reflection in 3d, that takes a lot of time. i have a fast comp 2 but it still takes lot of time cause i use glass textures, and thats a complex material for the program too render because its transparent and stuff, too c this try making a render, render it first in glass and then with a metal, check the difference! metal is quite easy for bryce too render.
well hope u understand now
and im working on a tutorial right now, with another tecnique and a part too show the textures

Sharcu In reply to bdk14 [2006-03-25 16:40:01 +0000 UTC]

Okay, ya, that makes perfect sense now.
What if you make it a metal and lower the transparency level?
Would that slow the whole thing down or make it faster then glass?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bdk14 In reply to Sharcu [2006-03-25 17:10:43 +0000 UTC]

it makes it faster indeed

wow... new tech... bryce sucks though

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bdk14 In reply to Mr-Magic [2006-03-19 16:17:18 +0000 UTC]

depends on how u use it
