Description
Eddy is the self-appointed leader of the Eds. He is an ill-tempered and greedy con artist who goes to great lengths to scam the other kids out of their money. A true cheapskate, even at the expense of his friends' credibility. His efforts are always in the pursuit of jawbreakers, which he loves as much as he does money. Due to his massive display of self-servitude, arrogance, con artistry, hunger for money and attention, he is looked upon as a social outcast, and is treated just as that. Of all the Eds, he is the most despised (mostly by Kevin, Sarah and Jimmy). This actually makes me feel for Eddy, especially in a more recent episode where he creates an alter-ego just to make himself a clean slate and be liked by his peers. It works at first, but ultimately falls apart. Eddy was always overshadowed by his older brother (who is a total jerk) and doesn't have very good communication with his parents (much like most of the children in this show); so, it is very understandable that his views on life may be quite skewed. I'd imagine that if Kevin and Sarah were cut from the picture, Eddy may very well have become a quite likable person among his peers. The show wouldn't be nearly as interesting though!
