Description I've been wanting to get this off of my chest for quite some time now. Ever since I started going to my new school, I've been hearing many (if not most) of my peers swearing several times per sentence not only to their friends, but also around complete strangers, and even occasionally to teachers, and, quite frankly, I'm sick of it. I know nowadays many young people don't seem to find swearing all that offensive, and that's fine, I'm not here to change your opinion, but regardless of how you may feel about it, it is extremely rude to curse around someone unless you know for certain that they don't mind swearing. So please, before you go swearing around a new acquaintance, at least have the courtesy to ask them if they mind it first, because not everyone feels the same way about foul language as you do. Believe it or not, it is actually very possible to have a literate, adult conversation free of or with minimal foul language- in fact, that is usually the case with most literate, adult conversations.

Also, when you're in a public location and you absolutely must curse, please be aware of who is within ear shot and keep it down, especially when you're at some place such as a library or a young childrens'/seniors' area. When you say it loud enough that most people nearby can hear it, it's nearly as rude as saying it directly to them.

Just common courtesy, folks; we have manners for a reason.

Cursing is good when you really think you should do it. And that's usually when you can't bottle up the emotion anymore. Otherwise, pick a time and place lol 'cause cursing is usually never for anyone's good lol

Definitely agree. My family members didn't take this to consideration when I was growing up. I first learned profanity from them (and television).

I was sittin' on a bench outside and these kids about half my age were dropping them like it was no big deal. One of them said keep it down a little though.
I don't really care about swearing but I know people who do.

I love this.

The fella's at the place I work are always cursing, then they realise I'm in earshot and they're like; "Oh, sorry."
I don't care if they curse, they were public schooled and can't help it, poor things, but I think it's funny when they apologise.

Well, at least they have the decency to apologise; "Oh, sorry" is pretty much a dead term for my generation. :/

Thanks for the fave, I'm glad you like! ^^

Same here. :/ Cursing itself isn't necessarily a bad thing, though; it's all about time and place, that's all.

That's also a pet peeve of mine... I would put this up if I could. It also annoys me how people seem to think that if they curse as much as possible, they'll win an argument. Ugh...

It is indeed quite annoying when people think they can only get their point across through profanity; I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. :/ Sure, one or two far-spaced swears can sometimes help when used correctly, but when you go dropping the f-word five or six times per sentence, you just look like an immature child who heard that word for the very first time yesterday. :/ People my age scare me sometimes...

There seems to be a lot of that here... someone will curse more than they present fact in an argument, and another person will come along and congratulate them on 'winning'. But, luckily for me, I'm not exposed to a lot of that in real life. (:
