Description Still playing with metallic markers.

The Tree of Pain from "Hyperion Cantos" by Dan Simmons. There are four books, cycle can be sub-divided into two. I prefer first two novels "Hyperion" and "The fall of Hyperion".

These are one of the best novels I have read in my life. They are breathtaking. I remember that two weeks after finishing reading, when I closed my eyes I saw the colorful skies of remote planets. They are very rare kind of books that I could never imagine that someone could write a book like that before I read it. They were simply beyond my imagination.

Strongly recommend.

Thank you! I was experimenting with markers. And the book from which the tree was "taken" is great and it stimulates imagination a lot

You mean style? Van Gogh is one of my favourite painters, so that could be. Not consciously, however.

I think that my love for intensive colors I owe to him.
Don't worry, I'd rather prefer to stay on the sane side

Thank you very much!

If you do not feel strong repulsion from SF I really recommend.
It is not hard SF, Simmons rather use the SF motifs and landscapes, not dive into technology.

Simmons plays with a so lot of ideas that it is overwhelming and writes so picturesque descriptions that you see it all, while you read.
It is also a big dialogue with the literature tradition - from Chaucer though Keats to the heritage of modern SF.
These are books when you can find nearly everything - from artificial intelligence communicating with people via koans to some philosophical questions. And still it is not boring.
The first book can be read for its own
