Description
“On Friday 13th, after rain, the hare’s ears grew off the grass.”
The Bear was chopping wood at that time, but stopped, amazed by unusual phenomenon. Further in the story the ears grow bigger and bigger, higher than the trees. The Bear is thinking what actually happens, why and what all of this means. The rain falls again, ears get wet and fall.
In the end the Bear comes home saying: “I’m sure that the Hare has grown his ears so big to make me watch them so that my wood got wet.”
This is actually the best summary of “man’s attitude to the unknown and unexpected” as I know.
