Look! I can draw Sally like Steven Butler can to!
...(Well, sorta.) I noticed a few artists who work on the Sonic the Hedgehog comic tend to give some of the characters (namelly the female ones) more human-like porportions sometimes.
So I figured I'd take a shot at drawing a taller, more human-looking Sally. (What can I say? I like Sally, like pretty much every Sonic SatAM/Archie fan does lol.)
Plus I wanted to practice a bit on anatomy. I must add, I suck at doing more realistic female proportions, so it still looks a bit cartoony to me, and a few mess-ups here, and there. Oh well.
(I admit, I didn't add her vest, because I always have trouble drawing it.)
I'm a li'l embarressed putting it up, sence she looks a li'l risque. lol (Sally pretty much always looks naked, so sue me. At least her fur covers her up somewhat.)

I like how you rendered her in this one! She's like a living plush doll I just want to scoop up and put into an affectionate love hug--chest-to-chest, her lush legs wrapped around my waist as I hold her up with one hand under her soft bum, and my other arm hugging her to me while she hugs my neck!
And then wisk her away to my home with my brothers to a life of good company, loving new family, and fun only limited by one's own imagination!!

Sorry if I went a step over board. Being a natural story weaver I have a tendancy to Roleplay my comments, painting the image into my reader's minds as I see it happening. I just can't help myself when I find pics and images I like so much!

Yeah, same here. She's probilly my favorite female Sonic character, due to mostlly that she's not as annoying as pretty much every other female character in the series. lol

Well, most animal people in Sonic's world (called Mobians in the cartoons & comics) are usually shorter then an average human. (Though, I guess it depends on their species.)

Thank you Tracy Yardley! Not only did he got rid of Sally's human proportions and made her look shorter than a human again, he made the Archie characters look like Sega characters. It was wierd seeing realistic anthro animals next to Sega characters who look almost nothing like their animal counterparts. Not that I don't like Steven Butler, he is one of my favorite Sonic artists,

I like Yardlly's art personally. (He's good with facial expressions, and has a unique style. And his style suits Sonic, I feel.) Yardlly just has a different style, then Butler, and such. I don't think he, and Herm's art is going to be the centered art style of the comic now. (Heck Butler did pencil a mini-story earlier this year.)
Personally, I like seeing a bit more variety in the artists at Archie, because seeing nothing, but realistic/anime artists can get old. (Wich for awhile, was all you ever see in the comic.) I guess the same can be said for Yardlly, sence you see his art so often sence #160. (I hear they use him alot, sence he draws fast.) I feel a cartoony look better suits Sonic, but I like the more realistic artists there to fine. (I miss Axer.)

I like it. The proportions remind me of Starfox characters, and her figure reminds me of Iris ChacΓ³n.

She's a Puerto Rican singer/dancer who was very popular in the eighties. You can see her on Youtube. With a figure of 38C-26-42, the young Iris makes almost any current female performer look like a twig.

I never got why artists would give the older Sonic females human proportions, yet Sonic males, regardless of age, still had stick arms and legs.

Not all Sonic artists give the females classic human proportions (seven heads high, etc). I'm convinced that that usually happens when an artist has spent so much of their career doing humans in comic books that they can't shift gears and do furry art. That's when things start falling apart IMO.

Oh, of course. I think Mawhinney was probably the longest standing example of that. On the opposite end, Lim was probably the definition of a human artist who clearly was clearly doing something he wasn't too strong in (especially if rushed).

I think Art Mawhinney was pretty good, even in the early days of the comic. I recall his name was in the credits to Sonic SatAM and the AoStH cartoons under storyboard artists.
