On a side note, nothing big but a bit nit picky. Celestia's Younger self had an all pink mane and tail ( and technically her wings, but nopony ever seems to draw her wings pink ).

I never really understood why Celestia is supposed to have pink hair when she was younger; was that because of the opening scene in S1E1?

That picture sums up. All those pictures come from the book Twilight Reads in the first episode of season 1, in the beginning.
I also want to apologize for stating that like that. It felt kind of forced.

According to this book's style Luna's wings should be a lighter colour than her coat, and her mane/tail an even brighter shade than her wings. It also says Celestia and Luna have the same tail styles.
According to the proportions of the second panel Nightmare Moon's pupil is supposed to be slanted forward ~36 degrees, and her flank should have no purple blotches with a cyan crescent moon on it.
Final panel says Celestia's wingspan magically doubles after all of this for some reason.

MS Paint is all I need. I might use a more advanced program to rotate objects or put a transparent background in, but that's about it. From there it boils down to mastering the curve tool.
