TWO UPDATES IN ONE DAY. YEEEEEAAAAH.This is pretty self-explanatory.
I know, guys.
Steelix is obviously better than Onix.
Only n00bs would turn down an opportunity to evolve their Pokémon just because they've been with them for so long without evolving and evolving them would only feel weird.
I know....I'm pathetic.

You're not alone xD I'm so ridiculously emotionally connected to my pokemons, it's not even funny xD I feel guilty when I leave one of my favorite pokemon in a pc box, and when I breed pokemon to trade them I give the babies a nickname and end up being too attached to them to trade them

Don't worry, I'm much patheticer. I first saw lombre, decided it was butt-ugly, then mashed the B-button when I figured out that was what lotad evolves into, bringing my lotad from being one of my best pokémon to being a sixth ranger. Though not far behind my makuhita, because I wasn't too fond of hariyama either, and my swablu, really just because.
But eh, I like my team. Even if they get trounced with little difficulty, I get attached.

Same! I just ralised I left my Lucario and Drifblim in a pc box for a really long time to make room for the legendary and my pokemon who knows strenght and rock smash and I felt sooo guilty ;_;

Actually compared to steelix, onix has higher attack and speed stats than it's evolution.

Steelix has a MUCH slower speed (30 compared to onix's 70), but it has a greater attack (85 compared to 45 for onix)...as well as much greater defenses. 35 base HP is gonna really hurt.

I've caught both multiple steelix and multiple onix. Only those that evolve from trading are stronger, with UT steelix and onix having drastically different stats. Even with the same level and nature, UT onix have at least 30 more ATK points then steelix.

The first stats are steelix...the second stats are onix. Notice the difference? Steelix SHOULD outclass onix.

You could always get another Onix and evolve that one, that way you could have Rocky and a Steelix.

Kept my Totodile from evolving until level 39, fed him a rare candy after evolving into Crocanaw, then 40 he turned into Feraligator. Two things: Totodile knew better moves earlier (in some cases) and I hate the design of Crocanaw, so I "skipped" it! lol (Crocanaw is a good design on his own, but not as a Totodile evolution! D: )

No no, not at all! LOL I don't evolve alot of my pokemon because I like them the way the are. Some people are all about getting their's stronger so the evolve as soon as possible. I have found that you can still kick ass with a first form than with a final form any day.

Ah. I know how it is. I wanted my Quilava to learn a certain move, so I kept him the same until like, Right before the Elite four. And then I couldn't handle evolving him.
My bro ended up picking it up, and evolved him for me. By that time I was to Lance, and didn't want to screw it all up. So I sniffled some, and got on with it. I died a little inside though. XD

Nah, I completely see where you're coming from. ^^ You're just a sentimental gamer like me. I form the exact same attachments with my Hunter Pets in World of Warcraft. My first pet, a spotted cat named Shagohad, at one point fell too far behind me in level to be practical anymore, so when I let him go in lieu of a stronger pet, I went to the very spot I had tamed him from and typed in a farewell speech to him. XD Later on, after certain patches to the game made it easier to keep pets on level, I returned to the EXACT NPC that I had tamed a couple years prior, re-tamed it, and named him Shagohad. I'd probably be the same way with Pokemon.

I don't have any Pokemon that I've grown emotionally attached to, but I've always loved Onix over Steelix. I was always the Gen 1 junkie and Onix is more appealing than Steelix anyway. And... Rocky would look like an old man as a Steelix.

I think being attached do your Pokemon is something very common...
I recently lost my precious Devin (I guess my little sister accidentally released him or something, she messes with my boxes sometimes), and my friend who has a lv 100 Dunsparce offered it to me, but I answered that I CAN'T REPLACE HIM WITH A DAYCARE-RAISED DUSPARCE FROM SOMEONE ELSE ;__;
...So now I'm training another Dunsparce I caught myself. It feel the same as Devin though... I loved him ;^;

That is ADORABLE, if I may say. XDDDDDDDD I actually don't blame you or think you're a noob at all. The ONLY time I've ever played Pokemon was when I was 12- and after playing it for too long, I got sick and...unfortunately NEVER wanted to play Pokemon again. o___x
But ANYWHO, while I WAS playing it, I hardly ever evolved my Pokemon because I loved them the way they were, and I didn't seem them as just 'objects' that had potential to become more powerful. XD; Same goes with my YuGiOh Capsule Monster game- I NEVER level up my monsters, I leave them at their max levels in their 1st forms.

What you COULD do is catch another Onix, train him and get him leveled up a bit, and have HIM evolve, and bam!

Aw, you really do love your stone serpent Pokemon, don't you? It's ok; it's your choice in the matter, and there's nothing wrong with it. Evolving doesn't even necessarily make a Pokemon better, y'know; after all, Lt. Surge evolved his Pikachu, and it got pwned as a Raichu by Ash's Pikachu (the, uh, second time of course
