Ok this is the new one I'm working on and yes it's another tribute piece to Luke & Mara (I guess I'm a bit obsessed over them right now, especially since I think poor Mara is a likely canidate to bite the dust in the new LOtF book 'Sacrifice' thats coming out in May). But this little ditty is from before they said "I Do." It's inspired by the Timothy Zahn novel 'Spector of the Past', the part where Luke escapes the pirate asteroid base and Mara's there to catch him only she gets knocked off her feet doing it and having Skywalker sprawled on top of her to boot *smile* I love that great awkward moment: "So. You want to get off me, or were you just getting comfortable?" It's a classic. Anyhoot this is a poor quailty image and it's only the sketch but I thought I would post it for fun, feedback, whatever. I bet that was an awkward moment for Luke. I haven't read the book myself but I am reading the Thrawn trilogy as we speak. Even now I'm REALLY beginning to like Mara Jade. I may just feature her in future chapters of my Gundam Seed/Star Wars crossover fanfic.

I love this scene, but I never tried drawing it because Luke is in disguise. Of course, I really should do it because then I really don't have to sweat getting the likeness spot on.

This reminds me of a fanfic I read once where Mara has a fantasy about this scene afterwards. In her fantasy she says, "So. You want to get off me, or were you just getting comfortable?" But this time Luke responds, "I am going to get comfortable" and then kisses her. Now that is the way that Zahn should have wrote it!!! LOL!!!

Ha ha I sooooooo agree with you!!! And that Fic sounds like one I totally need to read!!! Once again I love fanfics because they bring the romantic excitement to such anticipated and sometimes agonized moments in SW like this one that you so wished could have gone on in the pro novels and sometimes you even find yourself wishing it had really gone on that way instead. *Sighs* At least thats what I find myself thinking sometimes....

You know, I was thinking about that fic and I think I may have co-wrote it. LOL! I mainly write the boring plot and my friend writes the hot love scenes. We have written so many that I sometimes forget which ones I have my name on. It is over at [link]

Hey thanks FalconFan. This was a fun little ditty to draw for sure. I really hope to finish it some time soon just debating if I should do it in colored pencil or just leave it in straight up pencil. Let me know what your vote is.

i like it. i can never get a hold on the star wars books or anything related for some reason but i loved all the movies, and was crazy about luke when i was younger,lol. i had seen comic books about mara jade and i liked her too, but getting an account on this site has told me lots of things i didn't know. i like that akward moment the way you described it too.haha.
