Description My friend Jon Wofford did a sketch. I colored the base of this on my iPad using 'Art Studio' and then finished the rest in Photoshop. Progress pics are on my tumblr: rkivic.tumblr.com.

I had so much fun painting this!

The contrast between light and dark shadowing in this piece of art work is astounding. There are so many subtle details in it that I could look at it for hours and not see it all. The feathering on the wings is remarkable. I do alot of bead work around feathers and I wish I had one of the wings in this art work so I could bead it. The clouds are also extremely well done with just the right amount of sunlight. I would expect to see this piece on some fantasy writer's book as a jacket cover piece if it is not already.

Beilart, thank you so much for the critique. I really appreciate the feedback. All credit to the original sketch goes to my friend Jon Wofford. I love painting with a lot of color. Thanks again for the kind words, very motivating for me.

Such an amazingly detailed piece! The fur on the beast and helmet, the spear, the armor, even the background rock! Fabulous work!

Yesss, now I've added you to my tumblr watch And, great job coloring this! A question; I'm thinking of buying an Ipad just for the painting outside possebilities it gives, but not sure if it's worth the money? Does it work well for you when you paint?

I've just started using tumblr, I'll watch you back. Thanks for the comment! I'm trying to be more patient when I'm working as I tend to get excited and rush at the end.

I love my iPad. I keep it in my purse and take it with me everywhere and it's been good for both productivity and drawing. Apps for working on painting have been improving a lot and they're inexpensive. You've got to be careful with rubbing your wrist when you're using a stylus, but it hasn't hindered me a whole lot. I purchased the first iPad right when the second one came out, so it's not hard to find it for a good price.
