Description UF4.

Was trying for depth in this one....
The name is Aboriginal for stone.

Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments and faves on "Cobar".

Cheers,
Kim

I love the background. How did you get that effect? It looks a lot like concrete.

The stone look is done with a pixel formula, SFBM II coloring using soft octagons and convolution mode for the 3d look and turbulence mapping to break up the symmetry. I used several layers of this same combo changing the gradients to get the stony color.

Those background textures are to die for. Great lighting and shape as well.

Thank you very much...I think though I should play some more with the lighting.

Wow Kim! I love that texture in the background, especially the red glowly lines. You are so talented it's unreal.

This piece has a wonderful primitive Aboriginal feel to it...
Stone flowers are perfect...
The background looks like antique dried foliage, painted with dark earth tones... Beautiful!

Super foreground shapes and your composition, as always, is wonderful, Kim!

If you'll pardon me for saying so, I do find the image rather too dark... I feel sure there must be more detail in the shadows that I am somehow missing out on and think this image really would benefit from some adjustment to the overall contrast/lightness. I do hope you find this observation and feedback helpful as that is my only intention for mentioning this.

Thank you Chris for the comment and critique....I actually played a LOT with the lighting and saved several images with a lighter background but I felt that the flowers got a little lost. I wanted to get the viewer curious about what might be in the blacker areas. I also did one with brighter flowers but again felt it was a little too much with the dark background. I may end up going back to this at sometime and tweaking it a bit.

Thanks again,
Kim

Weird metallic flowers growing in a dark corner of a deserted lot somewhere, with light filtering through upper layers of stone and rubble and shining on the strange only partly-organic flora beneath.

Great shapes, colors and textures but what really stands out for me is the background and the light.

Nice work!

Great comment Kat ...I struggled a bit with the lighting and I still think it may be a bit too dark...I may end up tweaking this one later.

It's all a matter of opinion, of course, and I know that most people prefer lighter images but I like negative spaces. I think the dark areas add drama and a bit of mystery to this image.
