Description This is the first picture in a series that I intend to do, featuring the First Founding legions of Astartes, as they would look in the 41st millennium.

First out: The Dark Angels, the Unforgiven. The most "knightly" looking of all the Space Marines, even more so than the Black Templars. Hence the power sword/combat shield combo.

Yes they will all be done in pen because I rather enjoy that medium. And not coloured too. I've yet to find a way that isn't digital to colour pen drawings in a pleasant way.

Dark Angels and Warhammer 40'000 are © to Games Workshop Ltd.

alltid glad att kunna inspirera andra Warhammerspelare på nåt sätt. Det är det bästa som kan hända när jag tecknar och skissar ner lite flâniga idéer på papper XD

Not pencil, pen

But thank you for the kind words. And I'll be checking out your stuff too. So far, I like the comicky style a lot. Very different for 40k.

Sadly, my Finnish only goes that far... Can't recall Nyyti from Moomin, though.

Although, I'm a sister who loves her bitter and twisted Iron Warriors to bits! I am also the sad result of more than 10 years of Warhammering. Just warning you.

Yes. Though "play" is hard to say. I have minis but no group in my region that isn't all out Tournament players. I am not.

Talancir [2012-01-07 16:27:49 +0000 UTC]

this looks good, though I think I'd have to mention that the figured is a bit too slim for me to think that there's this bulky, genetically altered monstrosity of a man under that power armour.

Belazikkal In reply to Talancir [2012-01-07 17:03:49 +0000 UTC]

I get this a lot. I use a more proportionate human being as my base, who's muscular and more close to actual soldiers, than GW's canonical "hyper muscular" Spess Mehreen. Mostly because too much muscle, even in super-humans like the Astartes, means more weight to lug around and keep fed. They are already very strong, no need to overdo it.

But I get where you are coming from. I just have a different vision of the Space Marines.

Talancir In reply to Talancir [2012-01-07 16:39:38 +0000 UTC]

also, which power armour type are you trying to use? the MK-II armor? or the MK-IV? his pauldron looks a bit too streamlined, and the stenciling of the Imperial Aquila onto the chestplate of the armor wasn't done until the more modern MK-VII power armour.

Belazikkal In reply to Talancir [2012-01-07 17:05:56 +0000 UTC]

Armour mark? Mark VII. These aren't Horus Heresy Marines. And I figure, with time, they start mixing and matching parts because bits get destroyed. Reading too strongly into something so flexible as the 40k canon is dangerous, imho.

What a coinkydink, eh?

Wings are a central theme for the Dark Angels though, imo more than with the Blood Angels, though it tends to be forgotten.

Nightbringer24 In reply to Belazikkal [2012-01-07 15:08:08 +0000 UTC]

Just did a check on google.
Unfortunately, it's only partial stuff (the barrel of a rifle, the top of head, etc) or they're too far away to make any details out.
Although from what I can guess, they wear some kind of surcoat, helmets similar to the French hussars and carry very long barreled rifles ala Vostroyan style.

Belazikkal In reply to Nightbringer24 [2012-01-07 15:09:06 +0000 UTC]

I think the Vostroyans are designed to be more reminiscent than other Imperial Guard regiments of the original Imperial army, though don't take my word for it.
