Description Here is the latest entry for my series of cards featuring anime, cartoon and video games girls in pin-up outfits alongside World War II aircraft. Here we have Christine de Pizan from Bladestorm: Hundred Years War besides the French Amiot 354 twin-engine medium bomber. One of the most elegant and handsome combat aircraft to be used by the Armée de l'Air (French Air Force), the Amiot 354 was one of the several variant models of the 350 series, which was derived from a post aeroplane built in 1934, and had also included the 351, with twin rudders, 20mm cannon in dorsal turret, and twin Gnome-Rhône 14N radial engines, and the 353, also with twin rudder and 20mm cannon, but with twin British-designed Rolls-Royce Merlin engines. Although an order for 285 of this elegant bomber were made in 1939, the first Amiot 351 did not take to the air until November 1939, and only 86 Amiots were operational by the time Germany invaded France in May 1940. Although the Amiot had the potential as an excellent bomber comparable to its contemporary, the Lioré et Olivier 451, it only saw very brief combat service before France's defeat in June 1940. During the German occupation of France, some of the Amiots were converted into fast transport planes and used in flights over North Africa. As with my other WWII Aircraft Pin-Up pictures, Christine, the Berthier M1907/15 rifle in her hands, the Tricolour flag, and the clouds in the background are all hand-drawn, while the plane is scanned and printed from The World Encyclopedia of Military Aircraft by Enzo Angelucci.
