Description Here is the latest entry for my series of cards featuring anime, cartoon and video games girls in pin-up outfits alongside World War II aircraft. Here we have Ume Matsuzaka (Miss Uma or Miss Katz in the English dub) from Crayon Shin-chan (known in the US and UK as simply Shin-Chan) series besides the French Bloch 131 bomber. Designed in 1935 as an improvement on the Bloch 130, which in turn was based on the ugly, slab-sided Bloch 210, the Bloch 131 took so long to develop that it was already obsolete by the time it entered service in 1938, and even then, there was still a number of flaws in its performance. The Bloch 131 was almost immediately withdrawn from bomber squadrons and reassigned to reconnaissance duty, but after France's surrender in June 1940, the Germans did not use it due to its disappointing performance. As with my other WWII Aircraft Pin-Up pictures, Ume, the Chauchat M1915 LMG in her her hands, the Tricolour flag, and the clouds in the background are all hand-drawn, while the plane is scanned and printed from The World Encyclopedia of Military Aircraft by Enzo Angelucci.

Ume Matsuzaka/Miss Uma/Miss Katz and Crayon Shin-chan/Shin-Chan belong to Usui Yoshito
