Description
Wanted to draw some dino girls in bikinis, thinking of the novelty early 60s song about polka dot swimsuits; I immediately found a picture of a trio of gals running on a beach surf and set to work. The three's bikinis are modeled after pictures I found of both 50s and 60s swimsuit girls. Early on, I wanted the middle gal to be a crocodile but doing research, I made the discovery that the Nile Crocodile may actually have originated from the Americas and somehow swam across the Atlantic; thus, I based her more off of crocodile species that did live in Africa back in the Miocene, ones that would have snacked on early Hominids. First one I soon settled on making an Ankylosaurus, since you really can't go wrong with Ankylo gals and I really drawn any of that genus in a while. Last one took a bit for me to decide to go with Baryonyx and her coloration was tricky to figure out but on seeing pictures and artwork of Bary, I went with this weird orange and brown-white stripe pattern. I might have seen this type of pattern on dinosaur characters before, like Talon from Primal Rage, it's a nice pleasing color pattern for a female. Background I rushed since I spent over a week drawing and then coloring the girls, so I very loosely based it off that original picture of the three girls on the beach; obviously, the emphasis was on the characters in the foreground and not what was behind them.
