"Your faith shackles you my friend, your god is little more than a lamed hog, spitting awfull at mankind, we need a new deity, one of steam and the wheel, and I intend to take the problems we face today and smother it with steam!"

DANIEL COULD HEAR FOOTSTEPS, AS HE RAN INTO A ROOM AND CLOSED THE DOOR BEHIND HIM
AS HE RAN TO FIND A HIDING PLACE HE COULD HEAR THE BEAST GETTING CLOSER TO HIS LOCATION
HE SAT STILL AND TRIED AS BEST AS POSSIBLE TO NOT MAKE A NOISE
AND AS THE DOOR BEGAN TO SLAM, HE HOLD HIS LEGS IN FEAR OVER WHAT WOULD LURK BEHIND THE DOOR
AND AS THE DOOR FELL APART HE COULD ONLY HEAR A WIERD, HALF BEAST HALF HUMAN SAY:
"YEEEEEAAH IM PUMPED IM SO FREAKING PUMPED"

Am I the only one who thinks that the 'pigs' aren't pigs but people?
This is absolutely awesome!

'A Machine For Pigs' could only be an allusion to both slaughterhouses and industrialization. A church that has a crucified pig in place of Jesus confirms that this theme will run through the entire game.

Amnesia 4: Wabbit Season
... Of course that's after Frictional has sold to EA to help fund their expensive cocaine and prostitute habit.

Amen sister. When people work for vultures they shouldn't be surprised when they're scavenged. Fuck EA and the bad business practice inherent among game publishers.

I think in a series like Silent Hill where human interaction is a bigger component and it's tone more black & white you see overt occultism. There's a direct correlation to Hell there because the torture of each individual drawn to the town, and subsequently shaped into monsters, is ongoing and eternal.
Unlike Silent Hill though, a real place shaped and obfuscated by the mind, Amnesia seems to take place entirely in the mind. Amnesia isn't bound by rules the way Silent Hill is, it's pure surrealism. The idea that you'd meet another person in the series, let alone a group of people worshiping anything, seems unlikely in a world they've set up governed by a blue-orange morality system. Like an H.P. Lovecraft story it's very alien and haunted.
Anything in the series cannot be taken at face value because you're in a realm of the mind. Everything seen there is through a layer of nightmare logic. So 'pigs' in this case becomes less an actual animal and more a recurring symbolic motif of the violence human beings are capable of and how that relates to our nature and society.
... In a year of amazing games this one is going to blow people away.

Also I think that the machine is sort of a portal to another world or something like that
