Well Ah God man, I dont know I would be a terrible teacher. What I tend to do is use colours as a base... you know using the ink to fill out inside the line art and then use either more ink or use pen to shade the drawing. I'd don't really know what to say dude

you should try doing colour wash background when you have dark figures
would make them stand out more
