I wrote the following poem in 2001, it's only available in French, sorry about that.

Ma Nature

Par Ben Heine

O discrètes bleutées,
De loin vous me souriez,
Que vous me semblez profondes,
Pénétrantes comme l'onde.

Inattendu et lent,
Un nuage chantonne.
Longue fut ton attente,
Sur lui tu te cramponnes!

Mille feuilles suivent,
Fourbes et corrompues,
Elle vacillent et puis fuient,
C'est un venin étendu!

Tu as péri,
Mais tu ressuscites!
Ton nouveau gîte
Est une prairie.

I must say, when I first saw this on the "critiqueable" page, I thought it was a painting. And then, I saw it classified as photography. I thought it had to be a mistake, there has to be painting here, so I clicked on it. Sure enough, closer inspection revealed an amazing photograph, one that made me melt.

The contrast between the sky and grass below is simply superb, and the fact that you captured such a perfect amount of negative space around the singular cloud just blows me away. This picture is perfect in almost every way. Each time I look at it, I see a new detail--the hills in the background, the yellows of the grass, the many textures of the clouds.

The way I am immediately drawn to the singular cloud, despite the surrounding clouds, is a very good effect. It makes an impact. And instead of just cropping the entire thing down to just the sky, you kept in the contrasting colors of the grass.

I thank you for this photo. Keep up the good work, and I hope to see more from you.

A tinge of sadness in the image. Although I speak French, I cannot comprehend poetry in that language. Tant pis!
