Zimzilla99  I beg your pardon? I believe you don't know what you're talking about. This artwork is clearly not depicting Zilla, but Godzilla '98 itself. Also, let me clear up some common confusion, while Zilla is definitely Godzilla '98, it doesn't go the other way around, since Godzilla '98 isn't Zilla. This is in the very same manner that, for example;

- Mothra Leo is Mothra, but Mothra isn't Mothra Leo
- Kiryu is Mechagodzilla, but Mechagodzilla isn't Kiryu
- Cyber-Godzilla is Godzilla '98, but Godzilla '98 isn't Cyber-Godzilla
- Godzilla '98 is Godzilla, but Godzilla isn't Godzilla '98
- Godzilla 2004 is Godzilla, but Godzilla isn't Godzilla 2004

Got it? It's merely Toho's common practice of creating various variations of their monsters. You want further confirmation of that then I could show you Keith Aiken's words on the matter. Godzilla '98 and Zilla are still different characters, even though technically representing the same basic character, and Godzilla '98 will be permanently titled as "Godzilla" and represent Godzilla as per contract between Sony and Toho and this will never change.

The name change myth is dead. Get over it already.

By Godzilla you mean the original 1954 right?Since Godzilla 98 was suppose to be a remake you should more clearer on which Godzilla you speak of but aside from that you know your history friend & legality trademark on which version of the monsters represent.

When I speak of Godzilla '98, I'm referring to it as "Godzilla '98", and when I'm referring to the Godzilla character in general (including all variations) then I refer to it as merely "Godzilla".

Zilla despite it being called Godzilla 1998 originally however that trademark and copyright Tri-Star had is no longer

is no longer used and was replaced with the new trademark.

stating that newer art of the character and its likeness are not Zilla and the 98 version of Godzilla is a gross misunderstanding of character rights and trademark laws

despite Pellchinnn stating differently out of a person love for the design and hate for other peoples distaste

Awesome artwork! My favourite Godzilla!

MechanicOrga: The artist made it very clear that this painting represents Godzilla (1998), which is a different monster from Zilla (which was created by Toho and is merely a variation of Godzilla '98). This has already been settled.

Is this the adult or the juvenile zilla?

Awesome artwork man, not bad! However this version was renamed Zilla by Toho since they bought the licence off Tristar. However that's not to say that I don't like Zilla, lol.

First of all, Toho never bought the licence from Tristar: the rights expired in 2003.

Secondly, all post-2004 iteration of the 1998 Godzilla is now known as Zilla. Not the ones from the 1998 film and the animated series, they are still called Godzilla.
