Description This is something i've wanted to do for a while. It's actualy two things i've wanted to do:
a) a painting on wood, in this style.
b) Paint the 'Li'l Tee Pee' of 2006.

I feel like i accomplished something here.

Onwards!

Very nice mate, the colours look intense against the wood, especially the sleeves and face, I likes!

thanks shaun!
I'm thinking of doing more like this---but i need the plywood & the bunnings round these parts has a broken saw though. they're so arrogant in not fixing it up.

I'm so jealous of the fine lines you have here, I've never been able to pull that off with a brush.

hey, no need for a jealous...! I've been practising for years and years with ink and brush doing the comics thing...it's just time is all it takes.
And a steady hand i guess...I am shortsighted too so i've paid for all the keeping-my-eyes-close-to-the-paper.

haha, I didn't mean to sound so negative, but still, I've never been able to get such clean lines with a brush. maybe I'm just using the wrong kind of brushes or something.

I could probably work on the steadying-of-the-hand aspect of it, though. Thanks for the encouragement.

accomplished some magic!

I like how you kept a drawing style in the painting.
That's really great.

I'd love if you could paint a set of second-hand Russian dolls for me. Did you get my text the other day?

Anyways, I said that I saw some russian dolls in a shop window and thought it'd be great if you painted some. Then I thought it'd be great if you painted some for me, and I offered to pay you some sort of fee.

it looks amazing on the wood, and that really fine detail you get with drawing style makes it look extra sharp.

Looks beautiful! Really like the drawing style on the wood-as opposed to painterly.

n_n thanks erin, it was a huge relief to know if i wanted to do a more drawn-style painting, i could.
It's made me nuts making painting-paintings lately.

ErinHunting In reply to BenjaminCee [2009-05-04 09:34:19 +0000 UTC]

ha! I never got the hang of painting-painting, as I wanted my paintings to look like my drawings! But in a painterly way. Sort of. I think. Ha..
This really is great though Ben. And in saying that I really dig your paintings too, so keep on chugging with both
