Far be it from me to criticise a talent such as yours, and I know its a "WIP", but at the moment the piece lacks contrast. Many of the colors are almost the same value and it doesn't read very well. However, I am sure that will improve as the piece progresses.

Good comments ,I am bothered by the same thing. I am always open to constructive comments so please go right ahead with comments it is the only way I will improve. I really want to get the comments. If you have any specific suggestions to any area I would be interested in hearing them. The whole piece is in Photoshop so I can vary things pretty quick. I am not in a hurry with this one so I have time to mess with it for a while till I get it right. So really I would love some of your thoughts if you have the time. If not , then you have already helped and for that ,I thank you.

Too often, when people add color to a line drawing, they seem to forget about the linework, and let the color overpower it. No matter how you cut it the linework still needs to have an important role in defining shape and form in the artwork. You might try masking/isolating your linework and then reducing the GAMMA or brightness on all your fill colors until the linework re-emerges as dominant. Then take a good look at the piece and make some new decisions about the fill colors. Gradiant Fills in certain areas may help regain some of your outlining, and add a variety of contrast to your fill colors. Also doing some highlighting on the armor may have the same positive effect.
If you really want to go dark with your fill colors, them perhaps you need to consider making all or part of your linework LIGHTER in color to contrast against your dark fill colors.
I'm sure this is all stuff that you know about, I'm not making any amazing revealations to you, but sometimes a fresh eye can help you solve problems when you are too close to a piece.

My humble opinions.

Thanks I will try these suggestions out and see how it goes. I really don't mind getting these suggestions as I am still very new to the whole coloring my line work thing. Even though I have been making toys for 13 years I have not been doing illustrative art in that time. So any suggestions yuou have even if they seem basic are appreciated. I will update the knight after some more work

Tyler,
You are a tremendious talent! Perhaps you just need to knock a little of the rust off your skills after so long. You clearly know what you're doing. Your linework is beautiful and you have a great sense of design.

Not sure if there's anything I can suggest to make this better than it already is. Can't wait to see it finished
