It's a small purtugese man-of-war made up of moon jellyfish. Its not one jellyfish but rather a group of them collected into one mass. Any jellyfish would not have those bumps on top unless it was a colony of jellyfish.

I've never seen this type of jellyfish either. It has the four bumps I'm used to seeing but absolutely no color! I looked it up online:[link] and it says: "By the time it has been tossed in the rough surf, the Moon Jellyfish looks like a clear plastic disk or saucer lying in the sand. When alive in the ocean it has numerous, short fingerlike tentacles around the edge and an outline of a four-leaf clover in the center. Its transparent umbrella can grow up to 10 inches across. By the time the Moon jellyfish is washed up on the beaches, the tentacles are gone and these jellyfish are harmless."

these types of jellies are cool, I saw them a few years back in the bahamas and they dont have stingers! a biologist was in the water examining them since it was mating season and we were holding these guys. they feel like a hand full of thick hairgel XD

Teehee JELLYFISH! <333 I would think that as long as some part of it is not in the water, it's dead or dying. I might be totally wrong though XD

Nova Scotia and area has two jellyfish types: moon jellies and Lion's Mane. Lion's Mane is nasty and you must never contact them ever. They will give you a dreadful sting, and the thing with jellyfish stings is each time you get one it gets WORSE. If you develop an allergic reaction to them you can die! The Moon Jellies are harmless. Children here throw them at each other for fun. They don't have stinging tentacles like their larger cousins. Moon Jellies are small about the size of a child's palm, and basically all white/clear. Lion's Manes are pinkish purple and quite large, the size of a man's hand.
