Background: Twilight and Maud's relationship was a very wild ride. It started innocently enough with Twilight writing a book of Essays on magic, which happened to include a chapter on gemstone magic...from here, things spiraled. Maud, the rock farmer from nowhere had the gall to send Twilight multiple passive aggressive letters 'correcting' her rock and gem information! Even worse, she had the gall to be right, which quickly started a letter feud between the two. Although from the outside their letters looked perfectly polite, they were filled with catty insults dressed in science terminology.
Things came to a head when the two were introduced by Pinkie Pie, who absolutely didn't know about this conflict and was not taking any entertainment value in watching the fireworks, no siree. She was just introducing her dear sister to her dear, dear longtime friend. Completely innocent.
Obviously this meeting went poorly and Twilight and Maud were determined to never talk again or else remain nemeses. However, over time their letters would include more personal information as their arguments became more jokingly sarcastic than aggressive. The two became a sort of pen pals to each other, eventually going to coffee shops to talk and hanging out as friends. Their relationship was sweet but seemed almost platonic due to Twilight's and Maud's professional natures. At the four year mark of knowing each other, the two got engaged to the surprise of their friends and family.
They decided to have a family, first having Amity. Amity was a sweet kid, but they often begged their parents for a sibling, wanting to be the older mature child. When Monzonite was born Amity was overjoyed, and the two have been very close ever since. Amity is in theatre, and has had two highschool flings. They enjoy hanging out with their friend group, and often pull Monzonite into their hijinks. They have a cutie mark for basketball as they are extremely skilled at the sport, but mostly they play it for fun and have no plans in taking it professional.
